Scott Coker: Fedor Emelianenko's value would drop if he loses to Dan Henderson

"Fedor vs. Henderson fight is really two legends in the sport of MMA. Pound-for-pound, these two are really on the all-time list of greatest fighters, ever, in their respective weight classes. Fedor, anytime he fights, it's always an event. Same thing with Dan. You have two guys that are really legends. It's going to be a really special, special night.

I don't want to judge Fedor one way or the other, but I would say having three losses in a row would diminish the value tremendously."

Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker shared his thoughts about the fight between Fedor Emelianenko and Dan Henderson, which will take place in two weeks time, n July 30, 2011 at Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. According to Coker, Fedor's value could significantly drop if he loses to Henderson, in what would be "The Last Emperor's" third consecutive defeat. However, Coker refused to say it's "do or die" for Fedor, who still has two fights left (and one optional) on his Strikeforce contract.

Fedor Emelianenko and Dan Henderson share 38 finishers in 58 career victories. Strikeforce Women's Welterweight (135 lb) Championship bout between Marloes Coenen and Miesha Tate will serve as the co-main event of the night.

stock will drop he is getting paid over 3 times more than what he earned on his previous 2 fights, and he lost both of those. Somehow his stock has been going up

I love the way Dan fights. I thought he took the title from Shields for a second when he laid him out with that right hand! BOOM! Down goes Shields! But like I said Shields is resiliant.

But Shields is a very resiliant fighter who has no quit in him; I can't remember the last time he was stopped. He took Hendo's best shot and came back to win a five round war.And GSP was contemplating for a moment in his corner between rounds stopping the fight because he cuoldn't see. But his corner told him to suck it up, and GSP responde in championship fasion with another convincing win on the cards. Shields aint no chump. Neither is Henderson.

A must win for fedor Hendo will look for the H-bomb but he does tend to telegraph it. Fedor has good arm bars if he takes Hendo down he has a very good chance to submit him.

Fedor and hendo are average at best, Pride was years ago and if you count that as them being great then please count w silva, mark coleman and so on...if fedor losses he is done in america and should go back to japan were the competition is weaker.

You ****ing tool, the Fedor criticisms are partially-warranted at best.

Dan Henderson has maintained solidly and unquestionably his top-ten fighter status at both 185 and 205. He's continued to face good competition, great often, and has come to bat every time with some really incredible performances and finishes. Dude you clearly need to at least Wikipedia the guy's record, and you're a ****ing moron for wanting to paint every Pride fighter with the same brush. DUH were you aware Dan Henderson fought in the UFC before he fought in Pride, and won the UFC 13 tournament? Learn something, newb.

(Seriously can you think of another fighter who has been top-ten ranked in two weight classes for over a decade?? I'll stop you before you waste any time, no you can't because he's the only one.)

First i am no newb, second i am to grown for name calling, Last but not least they are both average, Its not about what you did years upon years ago it is about what your doing. Last time hendo fought a great fighter he lost, the time before that he was finished, the best two fighters he beat were Franklin and big nog in 99. I have my facts right.

No you don't. These two fighters might not be as good as they "were". But that does not diminish their attributes of the past. I'm sure Usain Bolt in ten years won't be the best runner at 100m. But to say that he was never good is absolutely ridiculous. Michael Jordan may not be able to compete at the NBA level anymore, but to dismiss him and say that he was average at best judging by 'now' is illogical at best. Some fighters peek at different times, Randy peeked at a later time in his career, some fighters peek at a lower age, there is no concrete science behind it.

You are a newb, as you've proven by your dismissal of Fedor and Hendo's legacy in MMA. I certainly agree that they are not at the top of the current food chain, but since they are both "over the hill", it should be a pretty even match up skill wise. Second, you're obviously too* grown for grammar, as seen in your brilliant post. Lastly, I totally dig the silent G in your name and all, but it should be something more fitting? Maybe Schitforbrains... yeah...that has a nice ring to it...

I am not calling names, but i think ur wrong by saying these legends are average.I think they deserve a little more respect. They are both fighters u can never pull out of the equasion.Fedor is one of the best technical and dedicated fighters i have ever seen and is on a loss streak but will never surrender.Hendo is a tough s.o.b and will always set the pass.I think this is going to be a great fight and not average.......

Fedor's last loss was years upon years ago before this last setback. I don't think he's ever had bak to back losses prior. He's still in my top ten, that's for sure. Hendo has only lost to champions in title unification, or title challenges in the past few years. He is as rugged and tough as they get. Love them both, don't want them to fight; but can't wait to see it!
