Strikeforce Lightweight Ryan Couture, son of MMA veteran Randy Couture, continued making a name for himself tonight, defeating Lee Higgins by submission late in the third round of his Strikeforce Challengers 14 match-up.

Couture showed effective striking and dominant grappling through out the fight, threatening with submission attempts and dropping Higgins with a heavy right hand at one point.  The end came late in the third round though, when Couture, who had been backed-up against the fence, reversed the situation with a trip. At that point he took Higgins' back and sunk in a tight rear-naked choke to force the tap with just 19 seconds left in the fight.

The match-up showcased a more well-rounded performance from Couture, who needed just over a minute to submit Lucas Stark in his professional debut back in August.  With his second straight victory under the Strikeforce banner, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the bright young prospect.

Why are you here reading an article about a fight that happened in strikeforce jack the drinker? If they are that much of a joke, why do you show such a keen interest?

This is why UFC Fanboys should really not be allowed to speak or write of their opinions.

Dan Henderson walked away from the UFC (who shortly after lost to Jake Shields who, in turn, is now being hyped up by Dana/Zuffa). Cain Velasquez, who fought under the Strikeforce banner early in his career, could have also stayed in Strikeforce if Croker would have been alittle more aggressive. Fabricio Werdum came into the UFC and derailed the hypetrain around Gonzaga and Vera. And walked away from the UFC after losing to Dos Santos in a contract dispute.

The point is, Strikeforce is a growing company with alot of talent signed. Whether you fanboys wish to accept it or not. The organization has some of the best fighters in the world too.

I think he needs a little bit more experience before he heads to ufc. He already has s**t loads of pressure on him for carrying that last name yah know. Like i've seen plenty of young boxers (i know this mma but still) that had skills but got rushed to fast to fight people with a couple of loses with crazy experience, and the younger, fresher, talent took many beatings.. Messed up their sprit, confidence, and there whole career. No big name organizations would spent a dime to look at them.. So (IMO) ryan has some good challenges rite where he is

Only an idiot would think about a 47 year old 230lb MMA legend having the ability to defeat his 155lb 28 year old son who only has two fights.

    Your humour escapes me.

I'm just saying how many other professional fighters can say their dads would beat them in a fight. And only an ignorant person would call someone an idiot for stating a simple oddity in a fighting sport.
