Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu maverick Roger Gracie continued his journey in the world of Mixed Martial Arts, this time defeating the veteran Trevor Prangley. The South African struggled to get past his opponent's significant reach advantage, as it was Roger Gracie who managed to land a bigger portion of strikes on the feet.

But taking fight to the ground was Gracie's main goal, as he took Trevor Prangley down with a perfect double-leg takedown. In an octopus-like fashion, Gracie effectively controlled the positioning, before locking a body triangle, and then a very tight rear naked choke. Prangley had no choice but to tap out, as Roger Gracie improved his MMA record to 4-0.

Roger Gracie in my mind is one of the best grapplers in the world with definetly the best submission skills out there, even better than Maia and Werdum. He needs a real test now.

how can u say one of the best in the world, and "even better than Maia and Werdum" and still say he needs a real test???? ur logic is flawed as it is backwards. He has huge potential yes. But i would not say hes better than those two until he proves it.

How has he not proved he's the best submission artist on the planet? He's won multiple jijutsu championships globally and he's a two time winner of the adcc world submission westling. Some would argue he's the greatest gracie and jijutsu practicioner.

"But i would not say hes better than those two until he proves it." - I'm pretty sure 10 World Jiu-Jitsu Championships is enough proof., especially since it is the best Jiu-Jitsu resume of all time. Also he has easily submitted most of his MMA opponents.

i dont see it that way. yes hes won all those and yes he is rly rly good. But Maia and Werum do this in MMA. Not just submission fighting. If your going to say hes better than them, im saying he has to be better than them at their game. But to be totally honest with you i would love to see him and Maia go at it. But until then, or until he destroys some more ppl in the cage. I cant agree that hes the best in the game (the game being MMA)

MMA yes I can't argue with you there but in pure submission skills I would say he;s the better of the two.

I wasnt arguing that. Id love to see them sub. fight, but im speaking pure MMA. and @Keith look down the list to see how this is playing out. I just said MMA so the sub comps dont mean much (not taking away from how impressive it is at all) and dont throw out how hes easily submitted most of the mma comp. hes faced when hes only faught 4 guys who arent exactly number one contenders.

fair points, i would say he is at least around the very top light heavyweight submission artists then.

Im not arguing or agreeing there simply because hes only got 4 fights in MMA. if he keeps it up like this though, ill totally agree with you.

if he can improve his striking to the level of say, fabricio werdum's, then he could be a real threat over at strikeforce. he doesn't need to start ko'ing guys, he just needs to be able to hold his own long enough on the feet so he can get the fight to the mat where he'll start snapping people's limbs off
