Rankings: Fedor in P4P, Hendo #6 Light Heavyweight
Posted on July 30, 2011, 09:03 AM by Anton GurevichFedor Emelianenko and Dan Henderson will meet tonight in the main event of the stacked Strikeforce card in Chicago. The encounter between Fedor and Henderson will be one of the most high profile bouts in Strikeforce history, at least according to LowKick.com Community Rankings.
"The Last Emperor" currently enjoys the support of his loyal fans, occupying the 9th position in Pound for Pound rankings. Fedor is only a few points above Alistair Overeem, who was recently cut from Strikeforce and now may never face the Russian legend. The most interesting thing is that Fedor currently ranked lower at Heavyweight, on 10th, below Josh Barnett, Shane Carwin, Frank Mir and the rest of usual Top 10 Heavyweight residents.
As for Henderson, "All-American" is currently occupying #6 spot in Light Heavyweight rankings, way below Lyoto Machida (on points) and highly above Phil Davis, Forrest Griffin, Gegard Mousasi and Ryan Bader. If victorious against Fedor, Henderson is expected to take the P4P rankings by storm, mostly due to fact that he's moving up one/two weight classes to face "The Last Emperor".
New rankings "window" will be open from August 9th, three days after UFC 133: Tito Ortiz vs. Rashad Evans.

Yeah, it's kind of crazy that Fedor is higher on P4P than Heavyweight rankings.
I think people may be mistaking the P4P list for a "best of all time" list...
Maybe an all-time list could be another potential category for community rankings next time? Just an idea =)
No it isn't crazy when you consider how small Fedor is for a HW and that he lost his last two fights.
This proves the intelligence of most of the mma community is......lacking to say the least.... Its a fun thing to have though.....even though I dont vote out of laziness
Yes, it is crazy when you consider that Fedor has fought at HW for every fight of his career. Seriously, how many other fighters in the top 10 P4P has lost their last two fights?
That doesnt make sense. Why would losing his last 2 fights put you up in P4P rankings but down in HW rankings?
A difference in rankings just begs the question "If you arent even at the top of a single division, how could you be one of the top of all divisions combined?"
I'm not sure why people think P4P means if you weigh less you should be pushed up in rankings. If that was the case the smallest guys would be on top of the rankings.
P4P just indicates the best regardless of weight class. In which case if your 10th in Heavyweight then all 9 people ahead of you are still ranked higher than you in P4P rankings.
this is typical fedor fanboy behaviour, you cannot lose two in a row and still be in the p4p list....they drop him a few places after the losses then when he doesnt fight for a while they just assume he deserves to be back up there....i couldnt give a s**t if p4p lists are purely opinion based, just look at the records of the other fighters in the list, none of them have lost in years, yet fedor gets finished twice in a row and hes top 10 material
puttin fedor in there is a slap in the face to fighters like maynard, rashad, jds, condit, jim miller etc who actually deserve to be on a list like this
keep trolling hard bro
@partyboy- i couldn't agree more, that's the point i was going to make but no need now as you have said it all, all the fighter above Fedor haven't lost for a long time and there are other fighters who deserve that spot more imo, JDS would be a good candidate.....
why can the rankings be monthly?
you know July Ranks , August Ranks , September Ranks etc
from the first of the months to the 30-31 .
i think it would be much organized instead of waiting for the first event of the month to open them the next day!
this month is agus 9 , sep could be 12 etc
First you have actually agree on the parameters of the P4P list and what it takes to be on the list. Only then can you make an argument per fighter of whom should be on there. I'd bet money on Overeem/Cain beating Anderson, jose, GSP (top3), the logic of p4p is unsound. People should stick to best in their respected weight class, a lot simpler.
I think the issue is more than most people don't understand what P4P means. All it takes is a quick search to find out what the sports definition of what the phrase pound for pound means.
In this post alone you have examples of people taking the words far too literal and thinking that just because they are lighter in weight they are higher up on P4P (in which case featherweights would ALWAYS be P4P), as well as examples of people thinking being higher on P4P means they can beat all the others in a 1v1 fight (in which case heavyweights would ALWAYS be P4P).
Both examples are far too drastic and obviously illogical.
the whole thing is illogical. How are you going compare jose Also against Overeem? Different weight classes, different competition, promotions etc. You can't, might as well try to find the tooth fairy.
It's just sharing opinions for fun. Of course you cant have an accurate comparison across weight classes. Obviously it dont have much legitimacy, but inconsistencies within individual weight classes tarnishes the little bit of legitimacy that it does have, and just makes it kinda pointless rather than fun.
Yeah this is dumb. Even as one of fedors biggest fans I dont even have him on my p4p after his loss to Bigfoot. The idead of a p4p rankings I dont care for much anyways, I much prefer sticking to best in their dedicated weigh class.
