Quick Quote: Alistair Overeem is ready to prove everyone wrong
Posted on May 4, 2010, 07:21 AM by Anton GurevichStrikeforce Heavyweight Champion and K-1 Fighter Alistair "The Demolition Man" Overeem declared that he is ready to take any necessary test to prove he is not using steroids. After being accused numerous times by Brett Rogers' camp for using "chemical enhancements", Alistair Overeem says he is ready to return to the United States after a three year-long absence to prove everyone wrong:
"People will always speculate. I will be tested just like anybody else and like I’ve said before I weighed 235lbs in no time when I did not have to cut weight. Gaining 10lbs a year by lifting weights isn’t a big problem. Before I would cut between 22lbs-26lbs to get to the 205lbs weight limit. It was crazy.
Now that I can eat and do not have to cut anymore (with his move to heavyweight division) it was easy to put on the extra muscle weight. I feel great…People are just jealous…I don’t see or hear any of these types of accusations towards Brock Lesnar yet he is even bigger than I am. They can test me all they want. I’ll be in the states soon and I will prove everyone wrong."
Since winning his title against Paul Buentello at Strikeforce: Four Men Enter One Man Survives, Ubereem earned a prestigious 3rd spot in K-1 2009 World Grand Prix and is currently on a 7-fight MMA winning streak. Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery will take place at the Scottrade Center on May 15, in St. Louis, Missouri.

Oh now...... he's ready. Thanks Alistair. It's going to take a lot to prove he didn't take steriods. It's going to take so much that it's impossible.
he is ready to test now he has been away for a year taking roids and he will have to stop to fight in the US, what an A-Hole
You ignorant, misinformed human being. He took tests in Japan and passed and what he said is very feasible. When I first started pushing weights I blew up in no time....naturally!!
Ya at this point it's going to be impossible to prove he didnt take steroids even if he is tested more rigorously then everyone else. I am starting to lean more on to Overeen's side on this issue but that being said it's so easy to modify these drugs with just simple changes so they have the same effect but can't be tested for and if anyone wants to take steroids, they're usually gonna get away with it.
im not ignorant, or misinformed. There are alot of ways for fighters to take drugs and time it correctly to pass tests. Also I think overeem is a fight ducker. look at his latest opponents, all overweight old nobodys.
He fought Badr Hari the other day!!!!????
If you lifted for more than a couple of months "naturally," you would have found out that you level off pretty quickly. Don't bring that bs in here.
Not if you increase your diet and take the right supplements that a well paid fighter would be able to...
Yep. According to K-1s website, they have doping tests.
Only time and tests on the US will prove that he's not taking steroids. The way he's eating, training everyday etc...actually only he does is eat and train so maybe, maybe he'll prove us wrong. Tests will confirm!
It depends greatly on what type of steroid is used. HGH for example will give you a lot of muscle growth and after you stop taking it you can maintain most of the muscle by continuing to lift and eating a high protein diet. There is actually a formula for how much protein needs to be consumed per lb of muscle but I'd have to look it up to be able to site it.
what is with this ebonics crap, it would take literally 5 more seconds to type the correct spelling and put a period in here or there. Even if you were making a valid point, you just sound like a rambling idiot.
Why is abbreviating ebonics? U ignorant, racist, loser. U obviously just wanted some reason to be critical. His use of abbreviation was efficient enough for any reader to get the point. I am not even interested or concerned with this topic, I was just glancing over it, but noticed your ignorance and wanted to point out what an ass u are. Oops it seems I have been using "U" instead of spelling out "you" I guess that makes me an ignorant "rambling idiot." Which u asserted that he was a "rambling idiot" for using, what u feel, is ebonics. Therefore, u feel that those of African ancestry are "rambling idiots." Just in case u decide to argue the meaning of your comments, Ive got this for you.
"Ebonics is a term that was originally intended and sometimes used for the language of all people of African ancestry, or for that of Black North American people;"
I am getting sick of the racism here and intend to start reporting it.
I would like to add that even tho I just got angry and name called that probably made me no better. I am sure u dont care, but these comments make me generally angry. So what I am trying to say is I am sure u didnt mean it to be taken so literally and I do not have a problem with you personally at this point. Hopefully we can be friendly as we are both fans/athletes of MMA. I just want u to take a moment to think about something. I am not African American, but think about those who are. I mean its really not cool for them to face that kinda shit while trying to enjoy the site as a fan of the sport.
agreed, as long as you maintain the same intensity of a workout routine, then you keep pretty much 100% of your anabolic gains
I just want him to pass the drug test so that he can fight.
100 percent agree with you
mokoko, you would agree with that illiterate rant
I thought you were "bigger than Mir" and a "Euro zone arm wrestling champ"? You just proved that you are neither by admitting total ignorance of how steroids work. I'm not saying that all huge guys and arm wrestlers are on steroids but you can't spend more than a few weeks in a gym without picking up some basic info.
shut up homo, your always on somones ****... stfu!!!
comonson has always got me lmao!!!!!!!!
Lots of fighter, and altheltes take steroids i really don't even care in the steriod era. I'm sure some of out favorite fighters are guilty of juicing at one point. It just a matter of not being caught. If they can play the system, and pass the drug test or if they have juiced in the past it dosen't matter to me i just want to see them fight.
well i like overeem as a fighter, and honestly could care less if he roids or not, that doesnt make your skills any better, and the fights ive seen he winning with skill or losing with lack of skill, he is right, look at brock, shane cerwin, mir put on 40lbs of muscle in months. went from 225 to 265 to compete at the same weight with the giants of heavy weight, of coarse knowone says anything. I played arena football and i now fight mma 9-0, i get so sick of fans who have know f***** idea what they are talking about and know nothing about wieght training and dieting always open their stupid mouth, even about the fighting its self, you dont do it, u cant do it, so just be a fan and keep wishing you could, losers get life.
uhhmmm im pretty sure mir was around 245 b4 he beefed up to 265....
In an interview in Jan. Mir said he weighed 284 (40lb gain in 6 month), Carwin on his twitter said he was up to 298 (about 35lb gain over about a year). The heaviest I've seen Overeem listed was 252 (27lb gain in well over 2 years).
Now who's on the juice?
Mir has also weighed in in the upper 250 range and had a world class strength coach for that and Carwin actually used to be even bigger than he is now in his earlier days and he shrunk down a bit (possibly getting off steroids) and is now regaining that weight.
And why is Bobby Lashley getting a free pass from Strikeforce? No Olympic level testing for him.
It's an unsolvable mystery...
And he will look tired and sloppy and slow... Just like so many destructive animals who come to a venue where they have to be tested and look like shadows of their former selves.
There is a reason he has refused to fight anywhere outside of Japan.
Overeem is a good fighter but he doesn't do himself any favours choosing to fight tomato cans in Japan instead of returning to America to defend his SF belt. It's ridiculous really, these non exclusivity contracts for the fighters allowing them to fight for other organizations whilst under contract with SF are clearly not working for Scott, Fedor is taking the piss deciding to fight when HE wants and so is Overeem. P4p best or not if they were in the UFC they would've been cut by now. SF were looking like a genuine competitor to the UFC not too long ago, they beefed up their ranks signing some awesome fighters, Manhoef, Hendo etc etc, aswell as their CBS contract but it all seems to be coming apart at the seams now which is bad news for MMA. I like SF for their own merits and fighters aswell as all the other various MMA organizations, the variety is good. If SF does go down in the end it will be a dark day for MMA......and for all their fighters..........
you don't necessarily lose everything after coming off a cycle. They are very educated if they are doing it. When the body in injected with massive amount of testosterone a switch goes off inside, and the body stops producing testosterone naturally. There are many synthetic pills or injections that will shock the body after the cycle is complete, the body will immediately start producing testosterone on its own again, and as long as you continue to have a high protein intake you can sustain over 80% of the gains if done properly. i think it is abused more than we all realize. But at the end of the day its their own conscience that they have to live with, if they are using. We live in the days of taking shortcuts rather than hard work and natural abilities.
i never use any steroids
i don't now much about steroids i think who takes roids shuld get banned for good
