Quick Quote: Alistair Overeem accepts Fedor Emelianenko's challenge?Posted on September 2, 2010, 03:18 PM by Daniel Cassidy
"About the fight I can be short; The fight is definite. I've waited long enough for Fedor, [he] did not answer so now I do K-1. Fedor and M-1 may now wait for me. And all that happiness around 'M-1 and characters' does not amuse me. However, the fight 'Overeem vs. Fedor' will definitely [happen] since no one is afraid of anyone anymore."
It seems both Strikeforce and MMA fans have finally gotten the fight they asked for as Strikeforce Champion Alistair Overeem seems to have finally accepted Fedor Emilianenko's challenge. With so much politics going on behind the scenes, from M-1 calling on Overeem to take olympic style steroid tests, or Overeem ignoring Fedor's call due to K-1 obligations, it would seem both Team Golden Glory and M-1 have reached some kind of happy medium. Since his shock loss against Fabricio Werdum, Emilianenko's fans will look to see how the man once considered unbeatable, returns from defeat. As for Overeem, a win over Emilianenko could cement his status amongst the top Heavyweights in the world. Should Strikeforce be able to put together this fight, it would easily be the largest draw in the company's history.
