Extremely har fight to call but I'm going with Barnett for now.

I can almost guarantee I will go back and forth on this pick though.

I think Cormier will beat Barnett in the standup. However, on the ground is where Barnett can win..if he can get it there.

It's tough to pick against Barnett after that demolition of Kharitonov. Can Cormier take Barnett down? Probably. Barnett is a great wrestler but not quite at Cormier's level. Does he want to take Barnett down? I doubt it. Barnett has nasty submissions. Can Barnett take Cormier down? If he does, Cormier is in big trouble, but I don't see that happening.

Therefore, I think this fight will mostly be contested on the feet. Cormier's big advantage in his last 2 fights has been his speed. Josh Barnett is very athletic and moves well for a 260 pound dude, so I don't think there will be much speed advantage for either man. However, Barnett is obviously bigger, has a significant reach advantage, and has far more experience. Also, if he gets to the clinch, he is nasty there and also has some explosive trip takedowns, which is the only way I could see him getting Cormier to the ground.

I think Barnett's size, experience, reach and athleticism will be too the difference as he hands Cormier his first loss via 3rd round KO.

Barnett knows he won't win on the feet, Cormier really is a dynamo. josh is gonna have to devise a plan to win this through submission.

Barnett might not be able to take Cormier down but that doesn't mean the fight wouldn't end up on the ground in some situations. an armbar could be delivered for instance.

anyone picking Barnett is on crack.. Barnett is NOT taking down Cormier period... and his stand up and power is nowhere near Cormier.

So let me get this straight: Barnett, who has been training stand up for more than a decade and holds wins over K-1 strikers Semmy Schilt, Mark Hunt, and now Sergei Kharitonov. Has stand up skills that are "nowhere near Cormier..." who has been training standup for 3 years, and has never faced anyone known for being a good striker. His best two wins are over Monson and now Big Goofy Silva, who are both submission guys.

Barnett will have the advantage standing up - especially in the clinch.

before last night I would have agreed with you edub but not now. Barnett looked pretty decent against Kharitinov in the stand up. It was obvious that he didn't want to spend much time there but he stood and exchanged with the KO machine long enough to show that he could land on him, avoid a good percentage of his strikes and take the ones that landed pretty well. I think Barnett will be the better striker and on the ground I see Cormier getting subed.

I don't think Barnett can beat any of UFC's top 5. Cain, Santos, Mir, Lesnar, Carwin, Nog, I'd even put Mitrione and big belly Nelson above him. Not to mention the addition of Overeem.

I don't see Cormier taking this one but he did surprise me last night. His stock has definitely gone up.

Cormier. Barnett has good wrestling but not olympic level. I also think Cormier's standup has come on in leaps and bounds and that could pose a serious problem for Barnett if he can't take him down.

olympic wrestler, unbeaten, took out bigfoot, trains everyday with cain velasquez, Cormier is gonna end barnetts run violently i like barnett but his standup is very slow compared to cormier and he is much taller which is gonna make it harder for him to get cormier down i think were gonna see same fight as with bigfoot, ends with barnett stiff on his back
