Overeem didn't fight like shit, he fought smart. He knew if he went in wild, Werdum would grab an arm and pull guard, which he managed to do quite a bit. Too much is on the line for him to go in there and just be careless. Werdum made this fight pathetic.
Werdum did land some interesting hits, but rolling around wanting to make out with Overeem on the ground wasn't a good look for him. Alistair showed a solid chin, but he blew his gasket my applying too much power. He really wanted that KO.
Werdum showed some improvements though. His striking has definitely received a level increase. But his antics were ridiculous and the reference was spot on about Thales Leites.
Well, if Leites had outstruke Silva 2 to 1 in that fight, yeah.
Frankly, Overeem looked terrible in this win. He fought "smart" in the sense that it got him the win, but he exposed his sad and pathetic excuse for a gas tank in a bad way.
How about you let me hit you as hard as a can and you can tell me if I hit like a girl or not. You won't let me cuz you know i'd knock you into oblivion. ****ing loser.
Silva's wrestling is twice as good as Werdum's, and his ground and pound earned him a doctor's stoppage over Fedor. Not to mention he has excellent striking and a black belt in BJJ and Judo. If Overeem just stays back and avoids the exchanges like he did against Werdum, Bigfoot is gonna walk right over him.
Yeah, but he also gassed and didn't do anything on his feet. One way to stop a guy who is putting pressure with the takedown is to put pressure on them on their feet, and I saw none of that. 'Reem comes out of this looking almost as bad as Werdum IMHO.
I like Silva, I think he's the only heavyweight rounded enough to rock it in the UFC. Reem is an incredible striker, but so's Carwin and JDS. I can see Reem getting outwrestled by fighters like Mir, Lesnar (assuming Brock doesn't go down after the first punch) and Velasquez. Silva has a great BJJ game, a really underrated wrestling game and he's a solid technical striker. I've got Bigfoot to win via decision after 3 rounds of ground and pound.
am i the only one who noticed werdum outlanded reem, and reem never even hurt werdum. even though i do think reem won the fight bigfoot is gona beat reem if he fought like he did last night.
Overeem was just too powerful for Werdum to do anything in guard. I hope bigfoot is stronger than Werdum. I also think Bigfoot will mix it up a lot more. He is willing to trade which will either hurt him or open up his BJJ. I think Overeem will get the win though. Hopefully by KO or some kind of stoppage.
Not to start a Fedor conversation. But I love a guy that fights and put everything on the line. Fedor jumps into the most dangerous guards in HW's like he did against Nog and Werdum, fought Cro Cop on the feet majority of the fight, you gotta love a guy that is willing to prove himself every time he fights. I understand "smart" fighting, but to go out and fight the other guy's fight is a remarkable achievement which takes a lot of guts. Overeem is against Big Foot will be his biggest test to date. Big foot has good striking, good ground, good BJJ and good Judo. BF is good everywere while the reem is a great striker and decent ground game. If BF comes in with a good game plan it's his fight to lose, I wouldn't be surprised if Silva TKO's the reem.
I was positive that Werdum would attempt takedowns and pulling guard to open up the Reem for striking, which he kinda did. I thought the fight was a lot closer then the judges.
bigfoot's chin is to big of target for reem especially with the little gloves plus kyle almost ko'd silva in the first and kicked his ass the whole rd if kyle can drop him reem gonna take his ****in head off
Comments
Still got Reem to win this tourny but Big Foot vs Reem is gonna b another close fight
Ive picked Big Foot since the Fedor fight, Im going to stick with my horse in the tournament.
After last night i have my doubts for horsemeat, so i dont know
Horse perhaps not the best word to use in an Overeem fight
haha...he ate horse meat .lol
I picked Overeem to start with and I'm staying with him, I just majorly hope he is going to improve on somethings

:)
I dont think you have to worry a lot Reem will come out ready to KO
bigfoot ....Bigfoot isnt just a BJJ guy he likes to stand and bang..
Werdum just wouldnt fight and is a GREAT BJJ guy and depended
solely on it,. was to scared to do anything else and Overeem tried to
get the fight going but if the other guy keep fallen to the ground really
cant fight. Big foot will come to fight and usaully will bring out the best
in both.... GSP has to deal with same shit but if both bring it..nothing
wrong with fighting smart

I don't know what happened to Overeem but he fought like shit. Werdum landed more strikes. I had Werdum winning the fight.
How about you let me hit you as hard as a can and you can tell me if I hit like a girl or not. You won't let me cuz you know i'd knock you into oblivion. ****ing loser.
If Overeem fights Silva like he fought Werdum, it's gonna be a very decisive victory for Bigfoot.
i dont know why you think that since overeem is k1 champion?
obviously silva dont have intentions to pull guard 24/7 and roll like a monkey.

Agreed, Bigfoot himself is a strong guy but Overeem will provide a different strategy for this fight.
He did fight smart. It would have been stupid to jump into werdrums guard
Yeah, but he also gassed and didn't do anything on his feet. One way to stop a guy who is putting pressure with the takedown is to put pressure on them on their feet, and I saw none of that. 'Reem comes out of this looking almost as bad as Werdum IMHO.
That being said, Bigfoot looks like frankiestien

and probably before the 3rd round
