Paul Daley: I'd like to fight K.J. Noons after I knock out Scott Smith

Noons, but only after he knocks out Scott Smith. Daley is set to take on Smith at StrikeForce: St. Louis which takes place on December 4th and is headlined by Dan Henderson vs Renato Sobral. Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker recently stated on MMAWeekly Radio that the winner of the Daley vs Smith bout would take on Brazilian scrapper Evangelista 'Cyborg' Santos and that bout would decide who is the number one contender for the StrikeForce welterweight championship.
''Semtex'' had a different plan in mind and had this to say on the matter:
'' Obviously first it's Scott Smith, to get him out of the picture pretty quick, and then really I just want to take the biggest names that StrikeForce has on the route to the title or the people that I think are going to present me with the most challenge.''
'' Without being disrespectful to Cyborg or to Mr. Coker, I don't think that a fight with Cyborg is something that I'm looking for at the moment to be honest with you.''
Daley then went on to talk about the possible match ups he'd be interested in:
'' I'd rather fight K.J. Noons or Nick Diaz straight away or a Tyron Woodley, who's really not a bigger name, but I respect him and I think that a fight with him will not only be a challenge for me, but will also be an exciting fight and a fight StrieForce can promote.''
Daley added:
''Ideally, I'd like to fight Noons after I knock out Scott Smith.''
Some strong words from ''Semtex'' he may already be looking past Scott Smith, which isn't a wise thing to do. But he is right about one thing, anyone of those fighters he mentioned would be promotable for StrikeForce. Daley is also known for his 'harsh' words in the lead up to a fight so he could do his part on the promotional side of things too.

I dont see Smith winning, for some reason everytime I think about this fight it reminds me of the Kampmann/Daley outcome, but Smith is the come back kid he could pull the upset but to me it seems unlikely

If Daley can improve his on wrestling a bit - he would be unstoppable. Alves is probably the only guy at WW that could stand with him.
Given that GSP was better than Alves in the stand up when they fought, I would say you're wrong.
gsp stand up is amazing but its only because people fear the take down they cant fight the way they want to. im pretty sure the shear size of alves and power wud lead him to a victory agaisnt gsp in a k1 bout
If you watch GSP in TKO when he was new to the sport his stand up was excellent, even for someone so young. Aside from getting caught by Serra, GSP has outpointed and out thought most of his opponents standing, many before he was known for his awesome TDs. His stand up is very much underrated, probably because he doesn't get many standing KO's, but if you watch every fight he has ever fought you will see just how superb it is.
yeh i do agree his stand up is amazing and above alot of fighters but the take downs do effect other peoples stand up sort of cancels it out.

at a weight they are both at there best , what ever Daiz fights best at
and what ever Mayhem fights at try and keepas close to each other as
possible no excuses

Tyron Woodley will put Daley on his back before he can say Semtex and beat a hole in his face for 15 minutes. Be careful what you wish for Paul. If you can't defend Masvidal's takedowns, stay far away from Woodley.
At least by challenging Nick Diaz even if he knows he won't get that fight, he's following the Chael Sonnen's philosophy which is "if there's any one in this company who challenges someone other than the champ the boss should send him a pink slip because if you're after anyone other than the champ you have business being in this sport"
This pussy needs to just challenge nick Diaz.
