No one is putting a gun to your head Nick to do this... should you get paid more... sure... do you draw crowds... yes.... stop being jealous of the guys making the big money. Get a better manager if you have one..l. negotiate better deals. You're a hell of an athlete..you need to develop a game plan for your future. Bitching you don't get paid well enough... who's to blame? I'm still a fan even if you suck at interviews. Your fight game is great! Just my $.02
Watching Nick in interviews is so funny he seems so out of his element, his reaction when the Mayhem thing got mention was priceless it was @#$#%#%#@% .
Btw Nick is right he could very well have won all the fights he lost by Decision , since the first time i watch Diaz at UFC 47 to date every lost on his record by Decision could by a win.
Sanchez,Riggs,Karo and the Sherk fight was more than B.S decision
and of course the early stoppage from the KJ noons fight, and he beat Gomi fair and square weed had nothing to do with the way he fight that night.
Diaz record could/should be 29-2 , hes never been submit or KO i cannot say hes never been finish because i never seen the TKO lost vs Jeremy jackson but even if he got TKO that was 8 years ago!!
i honestly can wait to watch him figh Cyborg then Daley then Mayhem!
for all the people who slate the ufc pay structure, well if he wants decent fight money, plus the chance of sub or ko bonus and sponsorship deals then thats where you have to be. Ufc paying 60k for a sub of the night bonus will be more than some fighters pay and win bonus in other organiations. Thats the reality.
poor nick hates fighting but when he's too old to be competitive he's gonna miss it so much. he thinks of himself as so deep and complicated but really he's just a whiner. how does someone so tough and so hard get away with so much crying?
Hey Fluffybuns...wait, your name is Fluffy Buns? yeah, Nick is tough man. He had no dad, and was raised in a tough city. He is a veteran, and doesn't get paid UFC money. If you were super talented @ what you did, you would probably want more $ as well. You can look at it as crying, but if you were in front of him you would look away or kiss his Fluffy buns, you homo!!
Nick Diaz would spank me like the worthless fatass chump that I am, in less than 5 seconds, or as soon as he wanted to, whichever came faster. Every time I've fought in my life, which is probably less than 20 times, I panicked and threw looping punches that hit nothing but air. I don't even know how to throw a straight punch -if I throw too hard I kind of hyperextend my elbow and if I by some miracle land a straight punch, I hurt my hand. When I get into a fight, I can't see anything, just blurry tunnel vision and when it's over, I can hardly remember what happened. Once I remember I can't fight and I'm in too deep, I always go for the takedown and throw the weakest half punch/half hammer fists you've ever seen and when those do no damage, I start kneeing the guy in the leg or the butt. Pathetic. And those are the ones I won. One fight I remember I lost when I was probably 13, I actually cried. Ha Ha. The guy beat the hell out of me and his buddies took my bike and I walked home crying with a busted mouth....Not crying like Diaz, but with actual sissy tears. I could NEVER do what Nick Diaz does. He's the tough guy I always wished I was but never became was because I was too busy playing stupid basketball or football or baseball. I like Nick Diaz. I watch every fight and interview I can find. I even watched five minutes of him nunchucking in his living room fml. Having said that, it still seems weird how much he complains. I don't recall that kind of talk from any other fighter, or any other athlete for that matter. One other thing I don't understand is that I always hear Nick say, "I'll fight anyone anywhere, especially Mayhem. But only at a certain weight and only if I get paid in full." But it seems like a moving target. He wants to fight at this weight, but then not. He wants to fight anywhere but only for a certain amount of money. But how much money? What will it take? The details are so vague. Even though I'm saying he's a whiner, he's badass and I can't imagine him being afraid of anyone, much less Mayhem. But doesn't he seem really hard to pin down on the Mayhem thing? I'm sure there's so much going on that I don't see in a 5-minute youtube clip, but if I met him, I wouldn't look away, I would ask him...in the most unoffensive way I could think of. I can see how he might tell me to go f myself but I could also see him giving me a real answer.
Seems to me that he is using Mayhem as a bargaining chip.
With that said, he is one of the most high profile fighters that is getting the least benefit in return. People reguarly call him a top 10 WW.
Hell at the last event he fought in, Josh Thompson got just as much pay as he did. That's pretty lame for a CHAMPION! Champions should be getting the best pay in a company, but that's not how SF works. Considering that, I think hes earned the right to complain about his pay.
Wouldnt you be pissed if you were the worker at your job with the highest credentials, but the guy who YOU are the boss of gets paid just as much as you? Even though you are his superior?
one time i smoked pot and i found myself on this website about fighting and then i called someone a crybaby and then i remembered when i was a crybaby and i just started typing and typing and typing and typing and typing and typing and typing and typing and typing
This ain't no dress rehearsal- you only live once and you can't take the earnings with you when you croak. He' needs to find the happy place and enjoy what he does- money can't buy that.
If only Nick could keep from going off outside the cage and just give people the silent treatment, he would be farther ahead, maybe hes learning that idk, still wont miss any of his fights though.
He's a wayward child, I found that quite touching.
Don't often hear fighters break it down like that, he might be the only one saying it but there's plenty of other fighters out there that will feel the same. It's easy to talk smack about Diaz but he's poured blood, sweat and tears into MMA 'just like everyone else but that's not my point' and he's living fight to fight.
I can relate, I've dedicated my life to something myself 'not MMA' and it's given me much less in return. With anything that you love and dedicate all your time to - you do get something out of it - like respect for the craft and others that do it 'that's where the respect after fights comes from', self respect due to the work you put in and discipline, but not getting paid what you're owed for your efforts hurts and Nick's done his fair share.
I'm preparing to get weaked by people that don't know what I'm talking about because they haven't done anything like themselves. But I bet there's some people on here that feel what I'm saying too.
stop whining you are where you are because of the choices you made or didnt make at the end of the day your responsible for your future if you want to get paid better renegotiate your contract or join the ufc although you have probaly burned that bridge with your punk ass attitude
The reason Diaz does not make good money is because he is a dumbshit. The guy can barely speak in complete sentences and acts like a bratty teenager. He is a champ in Strikeforce and could hustle for sponsorship deals like crazy but he is too much of a thug idiot. Take a look in the mirror Diaz. "Can I get paid?" Idiot. I would love to be his manager. I would bleed him dry and take everything he made. It would be easy.
You hit the nail on the head. Anybody who has been afforded the opportunities that he has and succeeded the way he has should not be complaining about his lot in life. If he is suffering, it is of his own doing.
Money comes from sponsorships and if he spent more time not throwing down and took two seconds to think about his actions before responding, he could be making ridiculous money.
It is unfortunate that he had an awful upbringing but at some point you have to take onus for the decisions you make and the lessons you have or have not learned.
I never really cared for him before, but really have disliked him since he flipped off Frank. He's on a 13 yr old maturity level. Near the end of the interview "mma has made me look bad" BS! YOU Nick and your thug brother have made yourselves look bad. WAR Cyborg, WAR Daley, WAR Mayhem

Nick you better start saving your money..... LOL
Is it just me or does the guy doing the interview looked like he is Stoned.

Sometimes, the choices in life is just not always that easy and some options are still no better than the other.
The Champ wants more money... Don't we all...
in that last minute of the interview...WTF is he talking about? O.o

Diaz brothers does

Money may not buy happiness, but at least you can choseyour own kind of misery. And true, there is no u-haul trailers behind a hearse.
If only Nick could keep from going off outside the cage and just give people the silent treatment, he would be farther ahead, maybe hes learning that idk, still wont miss any of his fights though.
Summary: you know? I dunno, I gotta get paid. F%#$ $# $#@% #you know? I dunno... PAY ME!! you KNOW!!

the last minute reminds me of a famouse Mike Tyson interview :-D
I guess he sacrificed his alternative career as a homeless person.

man I want that bad too.

Jesus, I have never heard someone say "you know" so damn much. He said it around 10 times in the first minute or so.
