Nick Diaz feels "Overworked and Underpaid," says "Paul Daley can have the Belt"

Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz, who will put his title on the line against Paul "Semtex" Daley Saturday, discusses his opponent, as well as taking the bout on short notice.  Diaz feels he is "the most overworked, overtrained, underpaid fighter," but says he isn't the type to turn down a fight.  When discussing Daley, he says he respects the Brit, but "hopes he doesn't hit him with a cheap shot."

Diaz will make his third title defense when he meets Daley in the headlining bout of Saturday's Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley event.  The stacked card will also feature Lightweight Champion Gilbert Melendez going head to head with Japanese stand-out Tatsuya Kawajiri, as well as former Light Heavyweight champ Gegard Mousasi taking on UFC veteran Keith Jardine.

Ariel must be very disciplined to listen to the incoherent babble Nick spewed out and not bust out laughing. Nick is really negative about this fight, he feels that Daley is gonna knock him down and/or out in the fight....not looking good for Diaz fans

There was a top 10 list of Nick's most awkward interviews on middleeasy last week, it was hilarious. I think it's safe to say, this one could easily be added to it. lol

Nick should get some interview tips from Chael... or just give short one word answers, instead of rambling on about something that has no relation to the questions being asked. Still hilarious though.

i totally respect what hes saying with the elbows. they make nasty cuts which is bad for anyone just turning on the tv to these channels, and they're too easy to do. theyre fine for clinch and standup just not lnp and not from the bottom. mma shouldnt be about making cuts and breaking orbital bones

I sense a lack of confidence and a defeatist attitude going into this fight, on Nick's behalf. When you compare the two AH interviews (PD & ND), Paul comes across as a lose laissez-faire MMA fighter and Diaz, an up tight, gives-a-damn, doesn't give-a-damn, chip-on-his-shoulder x-employee, who seems more concerned about the politics, than the pounding.

I have called Paul Daley in this fight and now, I'm only more convinced; PD early round 1 - KO.

WHOA.I know he can be erratic most of the time but this was really strange interview Something tells me Diaz is might do what he did in the first two rounds of the cyborg fight and if thats the case Daley is gonna knock him the f**k out. I'd love to see Daley reign as the SF champ mainly because SF will merge with the UFC and it'll be interesting to see if Dana goes as far as cutting Daley in that situation.

I don't think it's possible to knock someone without any concept of "sense" senseless... But if anyone can do it, it's probably Daley. Not a huge fan of either fighter (although they're both talented in their own way), but I kinda hope Daley pulls off the KO victory.

Will be interesting to see Dana White's reaction in the very least.

i think i may have figured nick out the reason he is so strange is he cant smoke ganja while preparing for a fight diaz is a admitted pot head. anyone who has spent enough time around heavy pot smokers know that if you take their pot away the become almost completly unfunctional and for the most part worthless. before you hate it would explain his erratic behaviour we all know weed is not chemically addicting but it is habit forming

utter nonsense. Myself and many friends of the same generation were part of the chemical generation. Smoke weed all week then do acid, e's. ketamin, MDMA, amphetamines all weekend as well as weed. And we lived that lifestyle for years. At times when family or careers required we take a break none of us ever showed any side effects other than putting on a few pounds and sleeping more. this rambling nonsense from not having weed is ridiculous.

As a chronic stoner myself who smokes pot every day to deal with anxiety and ADD, you are talking out of your ass buddy. If you go from being dependant on pot, smoking every day for months and then have to stop, well I'm a ****ing mess for the first while, and the reasons I smoke become very clear to me. Pat yourself on the back for all the drugs you've done (I had fun teenage years too) but that has nothing to do with someone who smokes weed therapeutically and chronically.

You're a **** buddy. Define what "physically addictive" even means and then maybe you'll find a way to stop sounding so ignorant.

There are two ways in which you could define a physical addiction. 1) something like opiates or nicotine which actually affect your body on a molecular level, falsely filling receptors and causing your body to not be able to function on a normal level without it. ORRRR 2) something like pot where many of your normal functions are altered in significant ways and you adapt to a new perception. Pot affects your hunger, energy levels, sleep, different metabolic processes, light sensitivity and sensitivity of your other senses, altered thought process, pain relief, the list goes on and on.

Although cannibinoids are not physically addictive in the same way opiates or nicotine are, pot changes you in so many ways that not using it has just as profound effects on many stoners' ability to function normally, and if you don't want to call that physical then you need to come up with a new word.

There isn't any evidence that the plant known as 'Cannabis' causes damage of any kind or addiction, contrary to popular belief.

People who cannot function without the substance have obviously created a placebo addiction.

The same theory can be applied to the emotion of Love. When a person is heartbroken, he or she cannot seem to focus or function in that time period.

same here japanegro, i was at 10 years. stopped when i got a job that required it. if anything it just makes you feel a little more normal. but it doesn't make you act like a diaz. some people may get more irritable. but that's from giving up something you like. non pot smokers will do the same thing if you take away whatever their release is.

What your saying actually is the popular belief - people swear it has no addictive qualities. But that's actually not true.

It really is somewhat addictive. It's not like pills, alcohol, hard drugs, or any serious addictions - you wont be shaking, sweating, and all that when you quit.

But aside from the regular mental effects that you get from quitting anything, if your smoking at least a few times a day for a few months or more, there are some slight physical addiction qualities... For a few days after you quit your appetite will be completely screwed, and your stomach will be on the fritz in general. It's not so uncommon for people to have cramps or diarrhea.

Like I said, that's nothing compared to a real addiction, but just ask any medical marijuana user that's had it long term, or distributors.

The mind is a powerful and enigmatic tool. Perhaps, the most complex structure in the known universe. The mind helps create all addiction.

Now while chemicals introduced into one's body help establish effects and symptoms, the theory behind that cannabis causes addiction (of any kind) is alittle hazy. In my opinion, it's more of a pre-existing condition [mental state] than a side effect. Of course, there are a few individuals that can develop addiction in the process, but that's an addiction created from one's own emotions and thoughts.

its hard to understand him... but he is right...

pride rules ware way better, there was no lay & pray there. wrestling is overraited these days, why would a takedown have more value then lets say a kick? they are both just one element of the game. it's awarding enough having the better position if you take someone down. counting the strikes when you take someone down is ok, but the takedown itself its not. you should count the takedown defenses as well if you are counting the takedowns.

mma fighters are all underpaid, he is probably saying that he is happy with what he is paid comparing to other fighters. there are some fighters that are still paid like 6000$ in the ufc, and they have to fly in there coaches from europe, i think that's not enough for the ticket to usa for the whole team. if you finish 20th in the world skying cup you get more money, its absurd! and then you see dana white showing of his car collection. its gotta piss you off!

    1) Ariel should not be trying to squash a beef that does not exist. Nick was out of line and his allegation didn't deserve much response at all.

2). I like Diaz for one reason. He is a great fighter who loves the art. All his angst driven BS complaints seem to disappear when the bell rings. Seems the only time he's happy is when he fights. I like that.

3). Despite most of his BS complaints he is SPOT ON when he talks about Pride, the UFC and yellow cards.

    WELCOME TO CORPORATE AMERICA NICK

Diaz's attention span may be one thing but him trying to communicate these ideas of top tier fighters not getting decent wages is not a new concept and fighters have been saying this for awhile now. If Dana is going to compare MMA, and more significally UFC, to soccer and NFL he should put something together where as fighters who ARE talented are getting paid for their talent not marketability. On the other hand though Nick you could always try your hand IN BOXING and chase after that payday.

If this is a collective majority decision though, Fighters could create a Union, and go on Strike (Not Strikeforce..jk) to protest low wages. Complaining will only get ya so far. I have a hard time feeling bad for Nick, there are alot worse people off in this World..Im one of em' living check by check, still a fan just dont feel sorry for you, Ya DiGG?!
