"3. How long have we been living this lie?
Either that or his skills have eroded to the point that he can no longer get away with cutting the technical corners he used to cut."
My sentiments exactly. Loopy punches and jumping into BJJ blackbelts guard was bound to catch up
I think it was size that caught up and nothing else
I be honest, with the exception of Fedor, Overeem, GSP, Cain, and Anderson Silva. MMA sucks. The rest of Strikeforce and UFC fighters all suck. I can't stand watching them with the exception of the fighters above. It is JOKE. Everyone can put gloves on and train to fight. NOT EVERYONE can put the helmet on and play football. When these fighters are gone the sport will suck. Gayna, has NO hope of EVER out dooing football. The Sport will NEVER evolve in America because of football and the Bowl Championships and the NCAA TOurney.
I will say Kudos to Strikeforce on the GP tourney. I think the doctors rang the bell too early on Fedor. In the GSP/Koscheck fight they let Kosheck keep fighting. I know it was a different doctor and a different country they fought in. It turned out to that Fedor only had a swollen eye NOT a broken orbital bone like Koscheck had.
Roger Gracie is the one that I like to watch. What he does with BJJ is what Roy Jones used to do with boxing,
Haha he is killing me.
if the size was the only winning factor for silva then i dont know what fedor was doin in that tournament because every single fighter in it is huge
To me, there's something about 50lb weight advantage that doesnt say "stand there and trade punches!" but that's just me.
If size is such a huge factor i dont know why he was in a Heavyweight tourny. Look at Royce gracie vs Dan severn...that's like what, twice the disadvantage? GG keep those excuses coming
When Royce fought, nobody new what DJJ was, it was different back than. So, skilled BJJ with submission could still take on bigger guys, who did not know what to expect or defend against deadly subs. Now, every walking fighter is a black belt in BJJ.
Noo, it was his lack of strategy and adapting to the ever changing development of MMA.
@Nemesis: exactly!!!! Throwing wild looping punches and jumping in the guard of black belt bjj guys isn't the smartest strategy in the world, and just because he has gotten away with it for yrs doesn't mean that he can continue doin it.
Sad to see him go like that, tons of respect of the guy but he just isn't a factor in the hw-division anymore.
Thank you for your honesty. Someone could easily say he's the greatest HW of all time because there's probably not going to be one more skilled, but anything more than that is nuthugging and just makes him deserving of "dumbest fans" award.
I agree with you that size is not the issue. Aside from that you are just wrong. Those punches you keep referring to are not "wild" or "loopy" It is a casting punch. If you watch closely you will see that when Fedor throws these punches his body moves out of the centre line but the fist moves in a straight line. This gives the appearance of looping but there is no swing like there is in a hay maker. He used to be very accurate with them but it seems that his timing and sense of distance is deteriorating. As for jumping into a BJJ black belt's guard, it has worked for him for an entire decade. He is also the Sambo equivalent of a black belt so he knows what to do from the guard. The only time it has backfired was against Werdum who is arguably the best BJJ practitioner at HW. He looked fine in Silva's guard.
I'm going to need to see Gina in the cage since like.... yesterday. About damn time.
I gotta agree with ma boy japanegro23 about Gina mmm mmmm mmmmm mmmmmmm bet those titties bounce like jello you know what I'm sayin
That cage potato article is ridiculous. No person with more than three braincells bouncing around in their scull could have thought Fedor was losing to Rogers. He Clearly won the first round and then beat him up and KOd him in the second. He may have been down points in the Arlovski fight but he wasn't taking any damage an again won via KO, this time in round one. Last night he got dominated in the second but he won the first and ended the second with a submission locked in. Then the article goes on to try and discredit not only Big Foot but the entire tourni. Who wrote this crap, DW? Whoever it was doesn't know shit.
