M-1 Global: Fedor Emelianenko will have an exhibition fight in Moscow on April 10th

M-1 boss Vadim Finkelstein has recently revealed that "The Last Emperor" Fedor Emelianenko will be featured in an exhibition fight at the M-1 Global Selection: Eastern Europe. The event will take place at the Aquarium Hotel (Crocus City Hall) in Moscow on April 10th, just one week before Strikeforce: Nashville event, where Fedor Emelianenko was originally scheduled to fight Fabricio Werdum:

"Fedor Emelianenko will support fighters with his presence at the event. Maybe the spectators could see an exhibition fight with Fedor, but it only depends on the situation with his hand. We will know this only a week before the event."

Fedor Emelianenko had to pull out of the fight again Vai Cavalo due to hand injury (and promotional disputes), but now it looks like M-1 Global will still use "The Last Emperor" to promote their own event. Fedor's participation in an exhibition bout may raise many questions over his motivation to fight at Strikeforce, what could lead to another rift between Scott Coker's promotion and M-1 Global.

when your talking best p4p all the other names (silva Gsp) are champions so every fight for them is fighting the number one contender.......I wouldnt call man choi, sylvia, arlovski and rogers number one contender caliber

and in my opinion franklin and hendo arent b level fighters, just because he makes it look easy doesnt mean it is easy

No other fighter on Earth would make Forrest look that helpless. Not even a HW. Anderson has incredible striking, but he's not the all-around fighter that Georges is.

hate to say it but this guy fights 1/2 a year now days ..

And the people that he fights are not top level guys ..

I realy loved Fedor in pride and in that time he was the p4p best fighter in the world i think ..

But to say that he is the p4p best fighter NOW thats just bullshit !

He fights once or twice a year and not the top level competion that he should be fighting !

I realy hope someday that Fedor wil drop that **** Vadim Finkelstein !

    Cant stand that ****er !

Anyway ... who cares about fedor fighting exhibition match ....... lol

Give him a break. One of his fights fell through - steroid usage on the part of John Barnett. And now most recently he broke his hand. When is the last time you saw Anderson Silva fight? That was 7-8 months ago. There are a lot of fighters who have gotten sidelined because of injury. I think Fedor is fighting the best competition out there that isn't in the UFC (which still does not want to co-promote any events which is not his fault).

Youre right he is fighting the best outside of the UFC which is who again? Exactly, noone! Im not saying the UFC has the best fighters in the world at every weight class but they probably have 7 or 8 of the top ten in every weight class.

As far as the whole co-promotion thing lets think logically(if you can) why would Dana build the biggest MMA org ever and say Hey I built this thing from nothing into one of the biggest org in the world so you can come in and take half my money to fight once or twice a year meanwhile again I did everything. It is his fault he was offered more money than he could get fighting 3 years in SF for one fight what does that tell you if he wanted to prove he is "p4p"(to be fair I dont think he made the claim but all you idiots sure did) he would do it. Couture did everything he could to try to fight this PU$$Y and it was not possible. Couture!, and I think Couture would lose yet he ducked him just like he does ALL REAL competition.

You guys need to realize this guy is a JOKE

Give him a break, you sir and everyone who thinks like you are total douche-bags

If you have watched Fedor's biographies and interviews, you'll hear that he has a lot of respect for his coaches and managers. He trusts their judgement.

However...they are using him to line their own pockets, yet screwing up his reputation in the process.

Fedor is innocent in this case because his managers don't update him on all the opinions of outsiders (experts and us) about his absents from the UFC. They play smoke and mirrors. In the end he gets given the short stick while they just make money.

In a recent interview in Russia, Fedor couldn't even remember the name Brock Lesnar. PROVING that his managers are keeping him in the dark about where he should be (the ufc). They don't want to align with the UFC otherwise M1 global and Strikeforce gets the boot.

    Hope i made sense.

i dont understand why so many "MMA fans" dont give fedor the respect he diserve! the UFC wasnt able to make a fair contract for the listed Nr 1 HW, but the most ppl think he is scared to fight big names?! a UFC top contender like carwin thinks he have only a puncher chance, fighters like bj.penn, gsp, rua ...etc saying he is the best MMA fighter, but you keyboardwarriors knows more???

if a.silva fights real competition in LHW i agree and say he is on of the best!! but he dont want to fight machida, rua, evans, rampage, bones, vera... at the time i think GSP, BJ Penn and Fedor are better!!!

exactly, unfortunately the UFC is a business, and M1 Global is a greedy business. Co-Promotion will never happen because M1 asks too much and the UFC isn't willing to give a percentage of their PP buys/revenue to one fighter. If i remember right M1 was asking for 2+ Mill a fight, and the counter article favoring the UFC was saying that was 23% of Gross earnings of one card.

Greedy is all i ahve to say, Fedor would be my favorite fighter if he wasnt behind such greedy russian goons

This is bullshit. Fedor is not stupid and whatever M-1 says to him about the UFC, MMA, etc., he should be able to think for himself and know what the fans really want . . . which is to see him fight the best in the world. That is what champions do . . .

Imagine that, Fedor is healthy enough to do an exhibition bout. When he's suppose to have a bout with Werdum, he mysteriously hurts his hand. This is understandable, injuries happen all the time when training. It's strange that it happens at the very same time that M1 wants to renegociate his contract so they get more money.

My personal opinion... Fedor knows exactly what he's doing. M1 isn't doing anything that he hasn't approved of or knows of. If Fedor wanted real competition, he would be fighting in the UFC. He wants to go on cruise control to retirement with a record that isn't in jeopardy of getting any worse. Let him fight UFC released people like Werdum, Arlovski and Sylvia.

His next few fights will be people like Hershal Walker, Jose Canseco and Bobby Lashley... should be pretty easy for him.

He was the best in PrideFC, no doubt at all. Now he's the best at dodgeball.

    armedleg,

I guess you need to stop taking the M-1 pill and get back to reality. Fedor WAS the greatest 5 years ago. No doubt about it. But lately, he hasn't been tested unlike his Pride days and he could care less about the the fans want. Clearly, he prioritizes his relationship with M-1 over the fans like us who has been clamoring for him to fight the best out there.

What has Fedor been doing that you are referring to? Fighting 2nd rate HW's and doing exhibition matches??? lol

    let's look at Fedor's last 10 opponents since 2005:

    1) Brett Rogers

    2) Andrei Arlovski

    3) Tim Sylvia

    4) Hong Man Choi

    5) Matt Lindland

    6) Mark Hunt

    7) Mark Coleman

    8) Zuluzinho

    9) Crocop

    10) Tsuyoshi Kohsaka

Any one of these in the top 10?

    actually they are!

brett rogers was the no.10 when they fight!

Andrei arlovski was like no.5 he was on a 5 winning streak!

including 4 KO's 2 in the UFC and 1 desicion when he left!

and another KO to former IFL champ! and another KO at aflicction!

and Tim Silvya was also top 10! and he was 7-2 on his last 9 fights!

losing only to couture and minotauro.

and Cro Cop was no.2 when they fight! in 2005! that was his Prime

    and still Fedor beat him!

and by the way not only he beat them all but destroy them all!

    KO undefeated Rogers!

    KO Andrei arlosvki

    SUBMIT tim Silvya!

he has finish all his last 8 fights!

so not only he has beat them all but demolish them all!

so you might not think there world class but still he didnt went to desicion he finish them all !

thats what a real fighter and winner do!

not even mention a legend like FEDOR!

Heavyweight division is weak. Carwin would smash most of those, Brock would smash most of those....most UFC competition could eat those guys.....

But i suppose they were top 10 back in the day? It's just like saying that tito ortz is the greatest LHW fighter of all time. He didn't keep the title that long because he was sooo omg awesome, it's just that the competition was weak.

He wanted to fight Randy some time back, they even promoted the fight and everything.. however Dana said no its not going to happen, and we never saw it happen. Dana doesn't like Fedor, and im sure Fedor doesn't like Dana, so we will never see fights between Fedor and UFC fighters. Dana has trashed talk alot of fighters and ended up signing them such as Kimbo and Tito, however Fedor is a man of class and respect, he isn't going to sign with the UFC after Dana talks trash about him, he doesn't need the money.

It makes me sad, but I really think we will never see Fedor fight in the UFC, or fight any fighters of the UFC. He was ranked 1 russia's athlete of the decade, he is married and maybe soon he will give up on fighting, in his mind he has achieved everything.. Im sure the only reason he is still fighting is because he enjoy's it, there is nothing the UFC can offer him to bring him to the UFC apart from co-promotion.

in my opinion fedor and his management team are trying to secure m-1's future promotion business to a position where its profitable and well-known(ex.SF/UFC/Dream/etc). M-1 hasn't yet reached that level, therefore they will not allow fedor to retire. Fedor will continue to be

    M-1's poster boy.

I also don't think dana hates fedor or fedor hates dana. Dana wants to sign fedor cause the fans want to see him compete(fedorVsbrock/dossantos/cain/mir/carwin/etc. wouldn;t u wanna see these dream fights? =)), fedor is profitable and the longer fedor prolongs his deal with ufc the less profitable he becomes, its happening right now, read all these comments fedor fans are pissed!

You can hate dana all u want but you got to give dana respect in the fact that he doesn;t do stupid business and my proof of that is look where UFC is right now? UFC got there shit together and now are making shows all over the world, UFC does not need to co-promote with M-1, they dont need M-1s help or money, Also look at what co-promotion is doing to strikeforce, fedor wont fight there champ, they can't even get a fight together what a mess, and m-1 is pissed of that the media knows "Strikeforce" rather then "M-1 & Strikeforce Presents.." UFc doesn't want that kind of problem

Its a matter of time now, i wonder whats going to happen to fedor and M-1, 10 years from now. I dont know if they'll even make it passed 5
