Luke Rockhold: It's alligator season, so I came for the kill
Posted on September 11, 2011, 10:30 AM by Joey SantosusNewly crowned Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold, who dethroned Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza to lay claim to the title, looks back on the victory, as well as the rough road that was traveled to reach this point in his career. Rockhold admits that his past injuries made him feel "cursed" at times, but says he pushed through and prepared well to get back on track.
"Its pretty unbelievable - to get here after that whole layoff. I always believed in myself, but going in there and never being out of the first round and then having to go for a five-round war like that - don't want to have to do that again. But, I prepared well, watched tons of swamp people, and you know it's alligator season, so I came for the kill."

Dammit. I actually would have been the 5th person to pick Rockhold on Lowpicks (largely because I don't like Jacare, but also because I like Rockhold's style) but it never went through. I put my picks through twice, and they wouldn't register.

Hmmm if I were him I'd keep the smugness on the low. He'll probably have to have a rematch against Jacre after such a controversial decision and at some point he'll collide with the UFC MW's who'll probably shut his mouth quite quickly
