Former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Muhammed "Blackuraba" Lawal, who defeated the previously unbeaten Roger Gracie Saturday night, looks back on the knockout victory and discusses the pressures of joining a new camp. Now a part of the American Kickboxing Academy, which produced four winners in four fights on the card, Lawal admits that, as the "new guy," he didn't want to be the one to lose.

"King Mo" Lawal

"I just thought it was my time to do something and shine. There's pressure on me because I went to AKA (American Kickboxing Academy). You know, AKA is a proven camp and I didn't want to be the guy that came in, the new guy, and lose. I didn't care about the pressure from ZUFFA and it being my first fight back, but I joined a new camp and I wanted to win for my camp and win for my people...Hopefully, they have like a UFC vs. Strikeforce event, and then we could all just be UFC. How about that? I just want to go where everybody is going to. It seems like everybody is going to the UFC, the UFC is cool."

HA! Those fights would be so one sided that I'd doubt they'd get sanctioned.

I don't actually think it wouldn't get sanctioned. Realistically when you match these guys up rank for rank then the Strikeforce guys are just below par, even the champs. Mark my words, Nick Diaz would have been picked apart by GSP and probably will be by BJ. Cain would wrestle Reem out of the octagon. Don't get me started on Rockhold vs Silva. I can't see Gill's striking being effective against the incredible wrestling of edgar or maynard. Hendo to dethrone Jon Jones? Come on, he got rocked by Fedor 2.0ld

Is anyone realizing that Strikeforce is ending? Dana is quietly moving all the champs tp the UFC. Reem, Diaz, Henderson. There is only Melendez and Rockhold left. And by the way I honestly think that Melendez will have a very good chance of beating Edgar or Jones. He is the most underrated fighter in MMA

I'd personally rather see the useful talent filtered in against guys more at their level than just watch beatdowns. Essentially the WEC model, I'm not saying some of these guys couldn't make their mark but atm they've not really fought the best competition and they won't improve until they get some properly competitive fights under their bed. Look at today's Bendo compared to the WEC one.

the only champ fight that would be unfair is silva/rockhold. that would be like 95/5 to silva. but thats because MW hasnt so much talent. the other fights would not be lower than 40/60 chance....

King Mo actually seems like a cool guy. I like him better without all the dog and pony show bullshit. UFC should sign him and see how he does.

Everyone knew Strikeforce wouldn't survive after Zuffa bought them.

Dana already said he doesn't want to promote 2 brands when he shut the doors on the WEC.

As far as Strikeforce fighters not being able to compete with UFC fighters ... I heard the same talk about the WEC fighters when they merged. Pettis, Henderson, Sonnen, Condit and many other former WEC fighters are holding up quite well.
