KJ Noons wants a shot at the winner of Melendez vs Aoki fight
Posted on March 21, 2010, 05:16 PM by Rory KernaghanKJ Noons has been out of action for almost two years now and is set to make his MMA comeback when he fights at Dream 13 against Andre Dida. Noons hasn't fought since EliteXC went under in 2008. Noons won the EliteXC belt when he beat Nick Diaz by TKO and defended it once against Yves Edwards, winning by TKO, before the organization went bust in 2008.
Since 2008 Noons has continued in his Pro-Boxing career winning 4 of his last 5 fights, during that period he turned down an offer from Strikeforce to fight Josh Thomson. When asked about possibly facing the winner of the Melendez vs Aoki fight Noons had this to say:
'I think they are both great fighters, I don't know who will win, but I want to fight the winner. I just want to fight the best.'
Of course Noons will have to beat Andre Dida before he could even be considered for a title shot, and after two years out of action some may feel that he hasn't earned the shot yet.

hes a good fighter, he could out box melendez but aoki would submit him just like he will do to melendez

akoi doesnt even have to get it to the ground all hes got to do is jump on him or pull guard hes the shit at flying submission too so theres more then one way to get it to the ground!!!he has some of the most savage highlights this dude is serious and breaks limbs...
r u serious? why do you think every website has aoki, alvarez and hansen in top ten lightweights? like sherdog, mmaweekly which r some of the best mma sites, just cause they dont fight in the ufc doesnt mean they aren't the best. honestly, ufc's lightweight division is pretty weak they only hve penn, florain, maynard n gomi. Dream/strikeforce, because they often trade fighters, have a much better lightweight division like melendez, kawajiri, sakurai, hansen, aok,i thompson and many more. Not considering Alvarez in top is just stupid and i can see y Hansen mite not b top ten cause he lost 2 in a row but he still is a dangerous lightweight

Davies you've got some balls and are true...somewhat. Aoki can submit just about anyone; however, he can not out-grapple other fighters. H can not out-strike other fighters. The only thing he has is top-notch jui-jistu and the worst chin. To top it off he's the 2nd best lightweight outside of the UFC.......

Noons is a bad dude, the matchups in the UFC against his style would be great... too bad he will be facing Melendez or Aoki or Thompson... boring...
Ever since Noons beat Diaz by cut stoppage, hes been ducking a rematch with Diaz.
He left and went to boxing & from what I saw, he isnt that great a boxer.
Rematch with Diaz will have a different outcome Im sure.
Nick would be smiling if he got that news.
