KJ Noons: "Nick Diaz is a trash-talking, pot-smoking chump"
Posted on September 3, 2010, 10:09 AM by Anton GurevichNumber one contender for the Strikeforce Welterweight Title KJ Noons threw the first "verbal punch" ahead of his October 9th clash against Nick Diaz, labeling the Strikeforce 170-pound Champion a "trash-talking, pot-smoking chump". The two met for the last time three years ago at EliteXC: Renegade, where Noons defeated Diaz to become the Elite XC Lightweight Champion. Here's what KJ Noons had to say to Strikeforce.com:
"I couldn't ask for a better fight. I already got one up on Nick. I beat the crap out of the guy. He's had a good run, and there's a lot of build-up for this rematch. We've both improved, this is a different weight class now, he's gotten better, I've gotten better, it's a different situation. But at the end of the day, I'm a true mixed martial artist, I have respect for the sport, and I am a good role model... Nick's good for entertainment, but I come from a family of fighters. I started early, and I have respect for martial arts. It teaches you discipline, how to become a good person, and I feel that I am.
On October 9, I'm fighting a guy that, if I had a kid, I wouldn't want him looking up to. He's a trash-talking, pot-smoking chump. It's motivation for sure [to be fighting near Diaz's hometown]. I love being the underdog. Even when I'm not, I still try to picture myself as the underdog so I train harder and push myself. Nick says he's bringing his guys, but so am I. They're going to need to beef up security. This is beyond a grudge match. I'm going to light him up like a Christmas tree. He's going to have to kill me to [to beat me]. It's very personal."
In his last fight KJ Noons defeated Jorge Gurgel, improving his record to 10-2. Noons' only losses were against the Krazy Horse Charles Bennett and Buddy Clinton (not the dog, the fighter). As for Diaz, Strikeforce Welterweight Champion is unbeaten since his fight against KJ Noons, occupying a Top 5 WW slot on most MMA rankings. Strikeforce: Diaz vs Noons II will take place at the at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.

Gurevich says Noons won the first fight but in reality it was stopped because of a cut. In my book, that wasn't a true victory for KJ. After the fight was stopped, Diaz wanted to continue, KJ talked smack. This is why there was a brawl at the hospital later the night of the fight.
I'm a Diaz fan and hope he shuts KJ up for awhile, can't wait for this battle.

I just put weak on my own comment, my bad UrHype, My facts were way off. But these guys do hate each other and i'm excited to see this fight. And Diaz would have continued to fight, but that's the way it goes sometimes with cuts.

That is the elephant in this room I believe. Kj was well on his way to a completely dominant victory in their first fight. In reality Nick had nothing for him in that fight. I never saw Nick with an advantage at any point and it did not look like it was getting better for him.
I wonder if all these people who talk trash about Noons and thinks Diaz can win, if they ever really saw the original fight. everyone who did watch, had to see Noons had his way with Diaz. Anything can happen in a fight, but if these guys are anywhere the same as they were back then, Noons should win once more. It really doesn't matter who wins, because unless its a draw, there's gonna be a loser. I do like Diaz' fighting style, because it works against most opponents, but there's always that one guy who'll have our number. Just a bad match up.
this is a hard fight for kj although i belive that he is the better boxer diaz has a huge reach advantage and if kj does get inside he has to worry about takedowns and diaz superior bjj. kj better be really light on his feet.

To each his own. You have a right to your opinion and others need to respect that. I, personally, do not smoke (used to when I was in my teens), but I'm certainly not going to rag on you for smoking. None of my business what you do, right? No matter what age you are, you are intelligent enough to come off as a mature person. That's good enough.

diaz is a sick fighter although he may not be the most intellectual guy who cares hes a fighter he gets payed to punch people in the face personally i think hes comments are funny and the fact that he is a pot head makes them even funnier
By viewing the first fight and how Noons had his way with Diaz, I wonder if Diaz has improved that much to even squeak out a W. It could happen, but Noons is right in one thing: Martial Arts is a discipline to help good hearted people beat bad ones and that's just what Noons did that night. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with liking a bad man beat guys up, like Diaz seems to like, but Noons has hs number and he will bring in his cornermen again. Diaz has thugs for friends, but Noons just has mean guys as his cornermen.
I'm picking Noons once more. If anybody can beat Diaz nowadays, it's Noons.

I hope Noons schools him. I'm not a fan of KJ Noons at all, but I can't stand the Diaz brothers. You got the older one who seems to have smoked himself stupid and the younger one who shouldn't have skipped speech class so much growing up as a kid. Everytime I see him flex and get gangsta on somebody, I can't help but laugh at his boney ass, lol. Good fighters, I agree, but I wish I would have never listened to any of their interviews.
