Thomson refused to discuss the judges scorecards, which awarded Gilbert Melendez a split decision victory, concentrating instead on overall quality of his performance. Josh Thomson is now 19-5 in his MMA campaign.

Gil is and always has been overrated, though it's not his fault the judges got it wrong.
The judges and the majority of the online media apparently.
Gil isn't overrated, Josh is underrated.
Gil never finshes fights..he only finishes to non-american fighters who are below B level in the US. But against the lat two american he is only a point maker. I think he sucks....
Josh is very gracious in defeat. Gil said in his post fight interview that he wouldn't fight Josh a fourth time. I don't blame him.
Absolute classy guy, this is how fighters should model their behaviour after.
Gil is usually really cool but Thomson definitely outshone him in that area.
If Gil is a top 5 then you have to put Thomson right beside him in the rankings, no question about it.
Also remember that Josh apparently mucked up his PCL before the fight.
Me neither. A guy that matches up extremely well with him that for whatever reason can't translate that skill-set into great performances against lower class guys (JZ and Kawajiri to be exact). So he gets demoted in the eyes of most fans, and the online media.
Plus he's fought him 3 times, and won a razor thin decision in the rubber match. No reason to want to go to that well again.
I'll wait until they both go to the UFC before making heavy conclusions.
Both Gilbert and Josh need to finish fights if they dont want the judges to be a factor in the outcome.
The Champ Gilbert Melendez had more significant strikes, and total strikes then Thomson. Also won in the grappling with more take-downs.. Yes Thomson had close to 2 minutes in the fourth round to apply the rear naked choke, yet failed. So bottom Line Gilbert won round 1, 2 and 3... close to call the 5th round. Also Gilbert face looked more ****ed up then Josh... Some fighters bleed mores then others, so don't look for that as an excuse... It doesn't change the fact that Gilbert won this MMA fight... Either some of are blind, or just haters... And stop saying Maynard would whoop Gilbert... Please that flat footed only fights good in round one.. Gilbert would absolutely dominated him. Even Thomson would beat Maynard.... A week ago no one was talking about this fight, and now everyone is interested in it... Hypocrites... Gilbert Won... Move On...
GoldenBibi's bias toward Melendez is more than obvious and has plainly tainted his or her assessment of the fight. I don't know what a "GoldenBibi" is but it doesn't sound good. Finally, anyone who is not familiar with the word "than" and who uses in its stead "then", and who also evidences myriad other problems related to mechanics, has a profound language deficiency. Given the nexus between language and cognition, there is no good reason to give any credence to GoldenBibi's comment. Apparently, others who have read it are of the same opinion (8 "weak" ratings, 0 "cool", etc.)
