Jeff Lacy says he is more than interested in "putting his fist in Nick Diaz's mouth"

"Honestly, I was a little stunned. Nick has accomplished a great deal in mixed martial arts and is certainly one of the best in the sport. But getting in the ring with me for a boxing match is a path he needs to be very wary of taking. I’m willing to put it all on the line anytime, anywhere! For the right price, I’m more than interested in heading to his turf and put my fist in his mouth and silencing him." (via MMAMania.com)

It appears that former Super Middleweight champ Jeff Lacy is more than willing to welcome Nick Diaz to the sweet science.  In a recent interview with HDNet, Diaz openly questioned his future in Mixed Martial Arts and revealed that his next fight would likely be contested inside a boxing ring, not a cage.  Though the Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu product initially called out two-time Light-Middleweight champ Fernando Vargas, his camp switched their focus to Lacy after learning that Vargas' medical issues would make him unlikely to accept the fight.

Undefeated in his last ten outings, Diaz is widely considered one of the most effective boxers within the sport of MMA.  His unorthodox striking style has earned him recent victories over former professional boxer KJ Noons, Brazilian Muay Thai specialist Evangelista Santos, and the heavy-handed British bomber Paul Daley.  But what do you think LowKick'ers?  Can the Stockton Bad-Boy translate that success into the world of professional boxing and actually compete at the highest level?

Diaz will do as well in a professional boxing match with a champion, as Toney did with Randy Couture.

They are two different sports and these fighters would do well to respect that.

Do you seriously think Jeff Lacy is worried about losing to any MMA fighter in a professional boxing match? I would not be worried. If I were a boxer who is dominating the sport, I'd just be working cardio all day to prep for any MMA fighter my friend!

Ha! I remember when he had the nickname 'Left Hook'... what nickname does he have now after the surgery?

Lacy's days of being a top contender are over.

No "MMA" fighter has ko'ed him! Its a totally different game! Think about Toney VS Couture in a boxing ring!!

God damn it i hate boxers. Boxing is not fighting MMA is. If your a boxer your not a fighter just a boxer. Fighting is when you can do whatever you want.

He could try, but I think it would take him a few years to really get a high level. MMA and boxing are very very different. For example, in a boxing round, the average of thrown punches is 100, and that's in only three minutes!

Nick neeeds to develop his boxing tecnic.

Nick Diaz has to come back to UFC and fight top guys like Anthony Johnson, Josh Koschek, Jon Fitch, Bj Penn... This will be an other story than strikeforce welterweight division... I am sure that now because it s all Zuffa there is a way...

Cesar Gracie needs to realize that he is Diaz's jiu jitsu coach..... theres no jiu jitsu in boxing. I guess big mouth is out of a job..
