The violent scene was worse than street fighting. The Nate gangster brothers and Jason Miller being in the same immediately spells disaster...CBS must be very unhappy. Not sure whether Dana will gloat on this disastrous end of the Strikeforce show or be infuriated at the damage they've done to a still growing sport...

Yeah its bad for the sport but it was by far the highlight of the night, from what i read the prelims where better. In all 3 fights the guys i liked lost and not even in spectacular fashion, and just when i thought i was gonna go to bed all depressed leave it to Mayhem and the Diaz bros to spice it up :) Mousassi and Dan looked very stiff but props to Shields and Mo. This could could honestly be the end of strikeforce especially if Shield leaves, and they suspend Gilbert, Diaz, and Mayhem. Just a thought.

This isn't as bad as you think, scrums like this are way more common in boxing - not saying it should be encouraged or even was acceptable but far worse things have happened in mainstream combat sports. At least everyone's ears are still intact.

Shields pushed and punched first. That aside Mayhem should have given Jake more time for his interview, then maybe made some hype for a rematch. CBS will have a bitter taste in it's mouth with this brawl, and they felt burnt in the past with elite xc and kimbo being a dud.

while I feel you are correct is not finding Mayhem 100% at fault I do feel feel he deserves the lions share of it. Did Mr. Shields react poorly to a highly delicate & emotional situation? Absolutely. However, I feel we (the fans) get the short end of the stick. MMA is still in it's infancy and our detractors are thirsty for ammunition to use against our fledgling sport i.e. New York Athletic commission. Ultimately, Strikforce is ultimately left holding the bag. With inability to control it's own fighters their stock will plummet in the minds of CBS and further better the UFC's impending TV deal and market share. Will corporate sponsors, Middle America, first time viewers and the hardcore allow Strikeforce these unsanctioned 'bar room' melees? To be determined.



In my opinion, I tune in to see great athletes compete. Tonight, Mr. Shields truly revealed his 'soul' to prevail in a hard fought decision win over a true legend; unfortunately, that was not all that was there to be both shown and remembered.
