Gina Carano not officially retired, but Strikeforce return looks bleak

Gina Carano recently answered the biggest question concerning her MMA career, but it does not seem that fans should get excited to see her fight anytime soon. Her newfound success in the film industry is seeming to reduce Gina Carano's urge to get back into the cage. When asked if she has made an official announcement on her fighting career, she stated the following in an interview on craveonline.com:

“No, I haven’t. I think it’s really nice for me to get into this new career. I know I can’t make a living fighting, nor would I want to make a living fighting for the rest of my life. Plus it’s been a decade now. I don't know if you’ve been reporting or doing something for 10 years, but after you do it long enough and you find something else to put your energy towards, it’s just like starting over but it’s fresh and you have the energy all of a sudden to do it.”

These words would suggest that while Gina is leaving the door slightly open to a return, she is mainly happy in the movie industry and the payday that comes along with it. Her statement that she has been doing it for ten years and has something else to devote her energy to all but ends her MMA career. For fans Carano, this comes as perhaps not much of a surprise, but is still disappointing considering the climate of women's MMA. A fight against Ronda Rousey or Miesha Tate could be an immediate huge draw, and Cristiane Santos is suspended, making that rematch less likely to dissuade Carano from returning. Most likely she will not return, but it could be a great card if she ever did. Will we ever see Gina Carano in an MMA cage again?

She would find it hard to cut to 135lbs methinks, considering that 145lbs division seems to not exist at the moment and she even had her troubles cutting to 145 - who can forget the towel incident...

That must have been a hard decision to make. What do you want to do:

    1) Train hard year round to get smashed by drug-abusing idiots for a couple of thousands bucks, or

    2) Generally do nothing, and just try to look beautiful and "act" once or twice a year, and make hundreds of thousands of dollars?

I just imagine myself having to choose and losing sleep over it.

What else dose she bring to the table besides her looks? I don't recall being all that blown away by her fighting style. She always looks super gassed. In her heyday, the talent pool was probably even shallower than it is now. I don't see her winning a rematch against Cyborg or being able to beat the likes Rousey, Tate, or Kaufman. She was good for the sport when she was in it, but I do not think it makes sense for her to put the gloves back on.

Gina would destroy Tate, or Kaufman. You sir, are retarded. She actually had Cyborg in trouble, and the fight was highly competitive.

Im sure seeing Tate's snapped arm doesnt motivate her at all.
