Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Gilbert Melendez discusses his upcoming title defense against Japanese stand-out Tatsuya Kawajiri, as well as what impact he expects working with ZUFFA will have on his career. The Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu product also shares his thoughts on his teammate's upcoming bouts, predicting a successful title defense for Nick Diaz, who will face Paul Daley in San Diego, and a major upset victory for Jake Shields when he meets Georges St. Pierre at UFC 129. Melendez promises to be the number one Lightweight in the world and plans to prove it by capturing the UFC title in the near future.
Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley is set to take place this Saturday from the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California. The stacked card will be headline by a Welterweight title clash between division Champion Nick Diaz and challenger Paul "Semtex" Daley, while Gilbert Melendez defends his Lightweight strap against Tatsuya Kawajiri in the co-main event.
