Fedor Emelianenko who made his successful debut in Strikeforce by knocking out Brett Rogers in November of last year is now set to take on Fabricio Werdum. Fedor is considered one of the best pound for pound fighter in the world holds a record of 32-1-1, while Werdum is one of the most dangerous heavyweights in the world holds a record of 13-4-1. Strikeforce President, Scott Coker, had this to say:

"M-1 Global and Strikeforce entered into a three fight contract exclusive for Fedor to fight in a co-promotion between Strikeforce and M-1 Global, and as you know we did the first fight on Nov 7 in Chicago. Fedor is now scheduled to fight in June towards the end of the month in America against Fabricio Werdum."

Fedor is the biggest draw Strikeforce has and they are slowly building him up for a title shot. While, the current Strikeforce heavyweight champion, Overeem, is set to face Rogers for the heavyweight title. So, the rematch between Fedor and Roger could be possible for the future.

This is really good to hear. I can't wait to see Fedor fight again. Strikeforce will have a good showing in April, May and June if this article is true. Hopefully we will see Diaz and maybe (wishful thinking) the Scott Smith vs. Cung Lee rematch on the June card. Nice job Strikeforce!

i dont understand strike force to get a title shot you have to get knocked out first??? rogers just lost to fedor and now they have to build up fedor and rogers get the title shot??????

I think this has to do with internal politics between Overeem and Strikeforce. If Overeem is going to fight in the U.S. and pass a drug test he does not want to have to fight Fedor. I think the only way they could get him to the States was to give hi some one he has a chance against.

OVEREEM WILL DEFEAT ROGERS. FEDOR WILL DESTROY WERDUM...SO, THE 3RD (TITLE) FIGHT WILL BE OVEREEM VS FEDOR...FINALLY, THE EMPEROR WILL HAVE A WORTHY COMPETITION, B/C OVEREEM IS NO JOKE...

overeem is a joke.. cardio sucks, ground sucks, he has a guillotine and some kick boxing.. fedor will still KO him, assuming rogers doesnt... and i think rogers will

why am i not excited about this?

oh thats right beating werdum, rogers & overeen wont change anything on what is still going on now

    1. M-1 brand will continue to be unknown

    2. M-1 built up a bad reputation for its self. Majority of mma fans hate it

    3. Strikeforce co-promotion with M-1 is holding them back

    4. Fedors stardom isn't going to increase

    5. New breed of mma fans dont know who fedor is & dont care

    6. Fedor doesn't draw a huge crowd or bring in high tv ratings

    7. Fedor is getting old, he was alittle slow when he fought rogers

    8. Fedor is one lost away from losing value

In conclusion, Fedor was the best in pride, ever since brock became champ questions were asked at our beloved champian, "can fedor beat brock?","can fedor beat the new breed of Ufc heavy weights?"

As fans of mma we would like these fights to happen but due to organization difference we will never know. What we do know is fedor doesn't have much time, in the end its up to fedor to choose how he wants his legacy to end.
