The Last Emperor Fedor Emelianenko discussed his upcoming fight against the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Fabricio Werdum, scheduled for June 26th in San Jose, California. The fight will headline the card, which will also feature a Womens Lightweight Title fight between the eternal Champion Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos and the American newcommer Jan Finney.

Emelianenko shared his thoughts about Fabricio Werdum as oppnent, typically stating that only God knows how the fight between the two will go on Saturday. Fedor Emelianenko finished all of his last eight bouts via submission or knockout, going last time to decision only against Mirko Cro Cop five years ago. As for Werdum, Vai Cavalo is currently on a two fight winning streak over Mike Kyle and the "Big Foot" Antonio Silva.

This interview was geared towards getting to know more about Fedor, a nice change from the usual lets just talk about fighting interviews. I found it just as interesting.

    6 facts:

    1) - I checked my phone for a text when that Blackberry chimed at 2:03.

    2) - That was a helluva toilet flush at 4:30.

    3) - He doesn't watch fights because he overhand rights his TV when he sees a fighter make a mistake.....just habit for him at this point.

    4) - He'll win by ripping Werdum's arm off and submitting him via triangle choke with his own arm.

    5) - He doesn't laugh when he's tickled.....he regenerates tissue.

    6) - If all he does in the ring is his job.....then he's a shoe in for employee of the month.

    7) - He is Vasily Zaytsev reincarnated.....can you remember what Fedor was doing before 1991? I didn't think so....

I am just not a fan of Fedor. He has a horrible fighting style and is unsocial so he can't talk up a fight. The guy just leaps at you with punches and hopes he won't face plant and connect. The guy just isn't like Mr. Untouchable. A.Silva could work him in a heartbeat. P4P best A.Silva

you must be a another nuthugger of the UFC since you watch UFC 91 hu? you didnt know who Fedor was until people from the UFC judge him and start saying their fake wrestling champion and now UFC champion 4-1 Lesnar would beat him!

and you believe all the hype from Silva because thats what they told you it was!

i make this statement not because you're not a fan of Fedor , but because of the stupid comments you made about having a horrible style fighting , because everyone knows fan or no fan that

Fedor finish fights! his style is just amazing, to be able to finish a fight in Any position its what made him so fun to watch!

the guy is hardly in a boring fight! and to say Silva can beat him in a heartbeat just makes me laugh , oh yeah finish him specially to a guy who has never been KO , submit , TKO even beat be decision!

yeah the guy who didnt finish Demian maia in 5 rounds!

would beat Fedor in a heartbeat!

funny but Ignorance its not a excuse to make such a stupid comment.

So if he is not a fan of Fedor, he is a UFC "nuthugger" You said it was about the statement regarding his fighting style, but that has nothing to do with the UFC....

Alright...Anderson Silva can't even be hit. Did you see his fight with MAIA!

He could have finished that fight anytime he wanted to. Seeing his fight with Rogers I just wasn't impressed with the guy who had nothing but hype. The guy is real good, but he is beatable and I think that Silva is by far the better fighter. When you can't even be hit, let alone beaten, then your better

Fedor only needs to hit you once & you're eating canvas. To say Silva can't be hit is so lame. He's been hit plenty of times, in fact Machida had a better record than him before fighting Rua. Look what happened to him.

Fedor has & always will be one of the most respectable fighters in the world. If you don't rate him as the No.1 P4P then shut up. The reason he doesn't fight in UFC is because of Dana White.

Why the f*%k would he want to be tied up in a contract that doesn't allow him to promote or fight in any other organisation???? He's part owner of M1 Global so that would f*%k that up for a start.

Wake up. Stop dreaming & turn off your PS3!

I think that a lot of guys do not like Fedor because he is Russian, but they need to see past that fact and watch how he aproaches fights, he is not at his prime and he is still kicking asses left and right, he is so calm and relax before the fights, a respectful guy, he is a classy fighter he does not talk smack before or after the fight because he does not need to. If you have follow his carrer you know he is out for the finish in every fight and he is able to KO, TKO or submit guys which makes him so entertaning to watch. I would like to see him fight Overeem before he retires...

That may be true, but its not always that ppl don't LIKE Fedor.... I like Fedor, but some people just don't think he is the BEST fighter in the world... People get irrationally angered if u do not believe that he is the best fighter on the face of the earth.... Its kinda weird.

Yeah, I know and it is a disgrace, I do get angry when he gets compared because he has no one to be compared with, but I believe that there are some people that do not belive he is best just because he is Russian, I guess that for some people the Russia-USA Issue is still sensitive to them...

I agree with most of ur commend you posted, but got nothing to do with that hes Russian or religion ,Races and Politics ,the point is peoples would like to see him fight in UFC,but i see due to a lot of issues.Hes the true Champion P4P to me and like you said hes calm and focus see thing more clearly even make him more dangerous .imo

Here we go here we go. The main issue at hand is people are saying he's ducking fights. Someone brought up the arguement that when he was killing people in Pride, there were no great heavyweights in the UFC which is true. Can anyone tell me that he was ducking fights then? Of course not. So why would he duck fights now?

    P4P Arguement

In my opinion if Fedor went to the UFC, he would lose to Shane and Brock. That really doesn't mean anything as far as the p4p arguement. Just because they are in the same weight class??? They would walk into the cage 50 lbs heavier than Fedor. That's like Rampage fighting BJ Penn. P4P has more to do with pounds then what weight class you're in.

Saying people don't like him because he is from Russia is like playing the race card, I don't think it is all the way fair to say that. People like Cro Cop and he is from Croatia. I think people don't like him because of the fact he turned down the UFC offer and he is considered the best P4P in the world. You can't be in that conversation unless you fight the best compitetion

Like I've said before, you will see all the "competition" differently when one separates themselves from the pack. At one time Mir, Gonzaga, Kongo, and Vera were considered top "competition." Want to go back further? Arlovski, Cabbage, and Sylvia? Once Shane, Brock, JDS, and Cain fight each other, you will see things different as far as top competition.

Best of luck to Werdum if he takes Fedor down. A black belt in BJJ doesn't cut it on the ground with Fedor. He's been there & done that.

I'm interested in the fight but I can only see it going one way, especially after Fedors last few fights. KO!

If Fedor loses this fight i think he will retire i don't think he will lose :0. I wonder if Fedor is considering retirement. He didn't say who he wants to fight next. Maybe he feels he is diminishing and doesn't want to do a Liddell. He is so humble for someone with his record.

I have lost all interest in Fedor. I am not saying that he is not an amazing fighter. I just don't see any fights in the near future that interest me. Its similar to GSP and A Silva in the WW division there are not really any tests. I for one won't believe that Fedor will fight Overeem after Werdum until I see it. Now we hear talk about retirement.

People are delusional that think that just because someone is able to fight in different promotions there will be a perfect world where the fans will be able to pick the fights. It doesn't happen in boxing why would it happen in MMA. All that will happen is more promotions arguing trying to get there share of the pie.

Don't believe me? Then why was M-1 in contract re-negotiations with strikeforce forcing Overeem to fight Rodgers to fight for the belt instead of the P4P best that KO'd him.

Was that the fight we wanted to see? No.

Is the fight between Werdum and Fedor the fight we want to see? No.

Are all these fighters able to fight in different organizations? Yes.

Did contract negotiations about money and promotion benefits get in the way of what the fans really wanted to see? Sure did.

Strikeforce is putting their brand and ability to provide consistent quality fights in the hands of several different people and organizations who are all looking out for their own bottom line not yours.

They are not protecting their brand and that is a big No No in my industry.

I may see things a little differently because I am a full time marketer and I can't help but notice the business side of things. When it comes to marketing the right way the UFC is Fedor and strikeforce is Jose Conseco.

I am open to intelligent comments but if you prefer to just call me a nuthugger save yourself some time and click weak.

Absolutely!! The funniest thing happened earlier tonight... I made a comment about the business side of the UFC and some kid said "Its not about the money" WHAT? Naive folks... I understand where u are coming from... I have my AA with an emphasis on business.. I have taken every business class possible at this level... I too, plan on transferring and going into marketing... Although, since I live in SW Florida, I have been questioning that decision...

Fedor is booked with Overeem and Brock is sent back down to fight say… Nelson…then people will be saying that Fedors fight is more interesting.

MMA is unique in that there are LONG gaps between fights. If you look at it big picture this is just a lull for Fedor and a peak for Brock.

And Carwin vs Cain for the title is really just a first title defense and a newcomer. …thinking big picture that is.
