this guy is so cool!!! humble, smart, proud and he have so much respect for the sport!!! dont understand how somebody cant like this type of fighter??? every fight he comes to finish and makes every fight entertaining!!! and he is not a man who only cares about money!!!
Fedor isn't a superstar anymore. Now the only people who care about Fedor are fanboys who think they're hot shit and think they're MMA experts just because they "watched PRIDE back in the day.".
Seriously, stfu and go jerk off to videos of Dana White slagging off Fedor then. Fedor is a LEGEND who has helped build MMA to where it is today as a sport. If you have no respect for him and other great figures who pioneered MMA, go **** yourself. You are one of those douchebag meathead moronic 'fans' who pollute the world of MMA today, the sort of anally retentive ****s who boo every time a fight goes to the ground, who eat out of Zuffa's hands and believe that Lesnar is the greatest fighter in the history of the world. Please, please go away and find something else that better suits your scandalously low IQ.
Yah for real you are a peice of shit. You should appreciate Pride and the contributions it made to mma. In my opinion fighting inside a cage isn't really condusive to MMA and fighting in general. BJJ matches are on a matt, Wrestling matches are on a mat, Kick boxing and boxing are in a ring, but MMA is in cage!? It was just away of americanizing MMA and giving the UFC an identity seperate to Pride. I respect all fighters who were successful in Pride because I know it was a true showcase of martial arts. If the UFC took place inside a ring, 100's of the fights ufc has had would have different results.
I'm not bashing the UFc i accept the fact it takes place in a cage and that is here to stay, but im just saying you should give pride and pride vets more respect. True Mixed Martial Artists as opposed to some of these "Cage Fighter" jerk offs we see today that like putting guys aginst the fence and layin on them until the time expires, to go with a judging system engineered to reward that. A strong defense is a strong offense and I woudl liek to see fighters rewarded for defending taketowns, gnp and ect all fight while in unfavorable positions, especially if the advantage goes to the wrestler or grappler by default becaseu of the surrounding enviornment.
Yes, there is some adjustment and adaptation necessary to transition from the ring to the cage, but its a bit of a stretch to believe that it would make that big of a difference between two guys that are used to each element... Also, no one can say what ultimately led to their decision to use the cage, but it is much better suited for MMA... In the ring there is way to much interrupting and resetting.
I really think that a fighter like Crocop and even Rampage were never able to fully adapt to the Octagon. Rampage's first fight was horrible. If you look at his fights in Pride he would get guys against the ropes, Drive in and then scoop slam them, but in the Octagon it is too sturdy, I think it plays more with their heads than with their gameplan. I'm not saying Rampage is bad, but I don't think he is the force he used to be either.
Yah, i suppose i did make a bit of a stretch there, just trying to emphasize a point. But the truth is your right, you can't really say someone is at a disadvantage when they both compete in an element they chose to and they should be used to. But when you have s situation like Gilbert Milendez vs Shinya Aoki, it definitely becomes a factor. Personally seeing a little more involvement by the refs in cage matches would make me more happy about fighting in a cage, I think that is where the potential problems may lie.
Yea, I agree in terms of Melendez. That is one of the reasons I am picking Thomson to beat JZ this weekend. There are other reasons of course, but a fighter needs time to adjust to the cage. Hopefully JZ has been spending some time in one to prepare for it tho.
I like Fedor's fights because he always goes for a kill. He does not dance around. He always wants to dominate. That's his weakness. Werdum knew that and he used that against Fedor. I bet Fedor will go for a kill again during thier rematch.
People thought he'd been found out when he lost to Werdum, when all along Fedor's been aware of his chances of losing at any time, except maybe Zulu. Even against Choi Hong man, he didn't want to stand. He was careless against Werdum and he got caught. Did no one ever notice he had a totally reckless style, he's been in trouble against dozens of guys. The fact of the matter is that in any given fight against any given opponent, Fedor can end the fight in a heart beat and deep down you've all gotta know that. It would be very hard for him against people like Brock, Velasquez, Dos, Overeem and even Mir, they could all possibly beat him, but he could beat any of them suddenly and brutally.
I'm not talking about all the bullshit with his management and some poor choices of opponents we've seen. I'm not happy about that either. I'm simply talking about his pure capability as a fighter. If Fedor had rocked Brock like Carwin did, could any of you say for a second that Fedor wouldn't have finished it from there?
Yea, I can say that... just as well as you can say he could have. None of us are psychic... Carwin hits hard my friend, if he couldn't end it, then no one can say with any certainty that anyone could have.
Yeah I don't just mean in the sense that any fighter can win on any given day. I mean the way Fedor has so consistently ended fights in dramatic fashion and I do believe firmly that Fedor would have finished Carwin on that grounds that Fedor is such a good finisher the punches would have been cutting through Brock's guard with much greater accuracy and speed which is every bit as important as heavy handedness. This would lead to a stoppage or an opening for a submission.
Who knows? Then he would probably finish Fedor or get subbed while trying to finish Fedor. I did say these guys could beat Fedor so I don't see how your point relates to mine.
I am a delayed/hater bc he has not fought anyone with clout in a long time. He is not an explosive fighter by any means. 1 ? 2 Fedar fans is why is he avoiding the UFC? he has had acouple of chances but no takes. Even Mousassi, Belfort, and yes Overeem say that the UFC is where the real competion is and fighters strive for the honor of fighting with the gloves. But yet we are forced to hear an on going sogga of which 2or 3 fighters 2 fight. I guess I cant really say I like him as a fighter until he goes 2 the UFC. And yes I know, he does not need the UFC blah blah blah he is the best of the 2nd rate fighters.
I am with you on that... I want to see those fights.... or at least a fight with Overeem! People swear that Fedor would run through everyone in the UFC. I'm not denying he is a great fighter... There is no doubt that he is easily one of, if not the most, well-rounded Heavyweight in MMA. However, while that is highly admirable, it does not always translate to victory. Look at Frank Mir! Frank is right up there in terms of overall skill, but struggles against the top guys in the division... I'm just saying, those match-ups in the UFC are highly relevant to Fedor's resume. I know some are big fans, which leads to a bit of bias, but to hear/read people say that those fights do not matter is a bit puzzling. Its like if the Dallas Cowboys went undefeated all season, breaking records and making it look easy.... They breeze through the play-offs and then decide "Welp, you know what? We've played a great season, lets skip the Superbowl... We've got nothing left to prove." Its like huh? I'm sure Texans and Cowboy fans might be like, "Well they're still the best! Look how well they played all season! Its not like they would lose!!" But others will always have a fair argument that their opponent would have won had they played that game... Which would ultimately mean that the Cowboys were not the best after all. They cannot be called champions until they win that game. Kind of like the Patriots going undefeated in 2007 then losing to the Giants in the Superbowl, but I digress lol
Lol same here, as much as I love Fedor, I've always maintained that the only thing that would make me happy in terms of Fedors fight career and regarding him as the greatest ever, is to (i said this b4 he lost to werdum because he had already proved himself against a top bjj guy like noguera) beat a guy like overeem/cain (super well rounded and strong good wrestler) or shane/brock (strong wrestlers)
Fedor is the man! He's not afraid to dish out damage or take damage. He's not afraid to take risks. But taking fights like that he was gonna lose one sooner or later. He did lose by going deep into his opponent's territory, but I still put him at #1.
Comments
Who cares? Who is he fighting and when, that's all I want to know.
Its ok there buddy. Go watch your videos of Brock Lesnar hunting.
yeah no chit ......from that I got that he wants a rematch to revange
his lose and out of all ppl he deserves it ....10yrs...,, and if he wins
let the Overeem get his shot at the King of Kings and if he loses then
Verduum and Overeem should fight its BS that these guys that are up for the belt to be able to refuse the fight how do you refuse fights at that level
I think I need to work on my Russian. Nyut!
I think he just means he wants to see a Fedor fight soon people.
Is Fedor saying that Werdum is unnecessarily having the operation on his hand?! Hmm, if so this is very controversial...
Why? Because Fedor said so lol.... Who has surgery for fun?
this guy is so cool!!! humble, smart, proud and he have so much respect for the sport!!! dont understand how somebody cant like this type of fighter??? every fight he comes to finish and makes every fight entertaining!!! and he is not a man who only cares about money!!!
Haters gonna hate...
@cackvogel
Noone said they didn't like the fighter, they hated his fanclub, doesn't look like Fedor thinks too much of them either.
And while we're on the topic of hate, anyone think that Fedor is like this because he's a true christian?
most only hate on his management they are the one who refuse fights
and what sucks is they didnt control so much of his life in Pride but
now that he settled down sucks for us fans that we dodnt get those great fights anymore
fedor is the man. nicest badass in the world
nicest and humblest
Be humble and you will be great, be great and you will be humbled
i cant understand this shit!!!!
turn on the captions?
yes he is humble, smart blah blah, still not the best fighter in the world.
Best fighter in the worl. Will be an Epic rematch
Perfect example of what MMA is (or should be) all about.
Fedor isn't a superstar anymore. Now the only people who care about Fedor are fanboys who think they're hot shit and think they're MMA experts just because they "watched PRIDE back in the day.".

Yes, Pride was very fun to watch. I don't remember any boring fights.
the Bushido tournament was some of the best fights I have ever seen

Yeah JS... The cage isn't why most Pride fighters coming over have been declared washed up or old right away. The cage doesn't make you tired.
Anderson Silva, Shogun are both champions right now. they both came from Pride.
And? Do you know how many Pride fighters there were? About 1% made the cut.
Yah, i suppose i did make a bit of a stretch there, just trying to emphasize a point. well they didnt....The octagon is where its at, even dream has its white cage now. But other than that u make a good point
Hes a REAL fighter he don't come to win rounds but to completely destroy....nuff respect 2 the legend Fedor
I like Fedor's fights because he always goes for a kill. He does not dance around. He always wants to dominate. That's his weakness. Werdum knew that and he used that against Fedor. I bet Fedor will go for a kill again during thier rematch.
He is the giant killer
Fedor is a rare breed. Will be a shame if he retires.
Klashnikof klashnikof klashnikof is all I heard

worst comment i've read. Sharp for that.

thanks for the sharp
I just want 1 UFC fight thats all.

**** M-1, that shit is wack... they take sooo long to set up good fights. And its rare for those clowns to actually have a fair match up

Lol, first Overeem is avoiding him and now he says the same about Werdum? Ironic...
Yea, that ruined the entire interview. If that's what he said it doesn't even make sense
@SYC/Joey S, agreed he is avoiding, why? Why the games?
Fedor is a goat...a very good goat
Fedor.....simply a class act!!!!!!!!!
You can't deny it!!
