Despite being the company's welterweight champion, Strikeforce's Nick Diaz won't be appearing at the their next planned event on June 26th, in San Jose, California.

His role in the Strikeforce: Nashville post main event brawl that will cost him a chance to defend his gold. It is believed it was the company themselves who veto'ed a fight for Diaz's Welterweight Championship until the outcome of The Tennessee Athletic Commission's report on the brawl, which marred an otherwise succesful card for the UFC's rival company.

This matches the same fate which prevented a bout between Jason Miller and Robbie Lawler, which was scheduled to take place at Strikeforce: Los Angeles, however a catchweight 195 lbs fight between Lawler and Reanto "Babalu" Sobral will be the main event.

A bout between Fedor Emelianenko and Fabricio Werdum are all but confirmed headliners for the 26th June, while fans can also expect a rematch between Cung Le and Scott Smith.

thats stupid, diaz bro's didn't do anything wrong, all they did was back up Melendez and Shields, they didn't start it or anything, it was mainly Miller's fault and partially Shields for pushing him and starting the whole thing

Dude i have to disagree, Miller was out of line for stepping in, but that was no excuse 4 the diaz bros to start beating him. I personally think that miller was least to blame for the brawl although he can be a bell end

but to promote fights thats what they do .......Rashad, GSP,and a ton of others......and to ask for a rematch publicly good chance he will get it....

but there was way to many ppl in the ring and got out of hand...and Mayhem apologized not no save face thing either he said he just wanted his rematch....Coker lets his fighter get a way with alot...,,, fight other places deny drug test and still keep there belt....UFC they know they will get in chit............

Hmm... I guess thats a good punishment. If you can't fight, you can't make money. That would piss me off.

This was looking to be a good card, would of been better if Nick was fighting on it though.

Well, lets take it from the top:

"which marred an otherwise succesful card for the UFC's rival company"- All the fights pretty much sucked.

"however a catchweight 195 lbs fight between Lawler and Reanto "Babalu" Sobral will be the main event"- Wasnt aware that they had Babalu...SF picks up yet another washed up UFC fighter. Haha

"A bout between Fedor Emelianenko and Fabricio Werdum are all but confirmed headliners for the 26th June"- Are ALL BUT CONFIRMED!! Which means this fight is STILL not guaranteed to happen! Hmmm....Wonder what the hold up could be?

"while fans can also expect a rematch between Cung Le and Scott Smith."- Hahaha This is the only mentioned fight that is actually confirmed for this event!

    WHAT A JOKE!

"Wasnt aware that they had Babalu..."

Any serious MMA fan would know that MOUSASI won the belt from Babalu last year...also Cung Le vs Scott Smith is an exciting match up in itself. I agree with your other comments though...

I admit that I did not watch nor follow SF a year ago. I guess that makes me less of a fan then right? Sorry if I was uninterested in a no name organization. I am sure that as a fan urself that u realize the number of fly by night organizations that come and go. I am not going to put forth effort to follow everyone that crops up.

Nick and Nate are both not my fav fighters but i think they did right on their side with the whole fight in Nashville and shit. Miller did not need to be in the ring talking about a rematch at that time at least. Wait until he at least has a few minutes with the thought of the win before that comes out your mouth. Even tho its unfair it still needed to be punished so hey its watever.

I don't blame the Diaz brothers. I blame Strikeforce. They have aloud that kind of stuff to happen all too often. Now that they were in the "lime light" all of a sudden, now is the time they start punishing people.

They aloud way to many people in the ring and they "knew" the risk they were taking with prior incidents from the same players.

The Diaz brothers are fighters. When they feel confronted, they fight. I like that. I like people that want to fight, but as a promoter you gotta put a leash on that kind of stuff.

The UFC does an amazing job of making sure only people that need to be in the ring, are in the ring.

Take a look at any other fighter that doesn't. You can spit out Fedor's balls now.

It's not that they are too dumb, they just have a fighters desire to fight. That's why they fight. They are compelled to. Rationalization and reason goes to the wayside and I for one enjoy that type of person.

Not everyone is built the same way. If Strikeforce knows about it and they are worried about the bad publicity, then they need to make pro-active measures to ensure it doesn't happen.

God Damn the people who keep making a big deal about this. There is a fight every time a pitcher ( not the gay type) hits a batter. Numerous fights in hockey, football and other sports. You have one fight in MMA and thye act like everybody should be kicked out of the sport. Fights and sports and in fighting sports will always happen!!!
