My thoughts exactly, and he's not too old. Many MMA fighters don't even start until their thirties.

He is a year younger than Carwin and a year older than Lesnar, not that old.

    Not old in age

Some people start to feel old earlier than others do, even if they aren't that old

His body is fine. He has taken very little damage to the head, only been rocked once. If he's tired it's because he hasn't been training like he should, not because he's old. He's still a young man.

Age is merely a number when it comes to physical strength, health, and mental condition. I've seen many fighters in their thirties, and even forties competing at very high level, and then again, I've seen some twenty something's who can barely move and are mentally out of the game altogether. None of us really know what Fedor's mental or physical condition is at this point.....we can only speculate.

@ston3pony. His body isn't fine. You're right about his training though. You can see he doesn't have the body of most fighters. There is a lot to be said about fighting age though. Like Wand or Liddell all people fall eventually. Even Matt Hughes. All will be regarded as great fighters of their time. I hope he retires. He won't do himself any good fighting the bigger, stronger and more fit competition of today.

He's not old dude. Look at the ages of the rest of the top competition. Fedor is less than a year older than Lesnar. Less than a year older than Werdum. A couple years younger than Shane Carwin. Neither is Nog old. Neither is Cro Cop. A man doesn't get his full adult strength until he turns 30. Doesn't really start losing muscle mass until he's 50. Fedor should still be able to compete at his previous level, until he's 40, easily. Especially considering how little damage he takes.

The reason people like Fedor look slow and tired after leaving Japan, is because they're going up in competition.

Fedor should have been more cautious, I could see it in his eyes, the formula was not all there, he went in like a kick boxer, and Werdum given so much time to train and prepare for Fedor, no thanks to Fedors managment, knew exactly what he should have done....

He would have more fans than he ever has had before. Millions more fans. Right now the only people who know him, are people who have followed the sport for a long time, or people who follow Strikeforce.

The fact is though, that Werdum has justified a contract, while Fedor would get a contract because of his name. Myth and legend have carried him a long way.

There is one option missing: Fire M-1

No surprise that Werdum wants to fight Fedor again instead of the champ... SF fighters fight because they love to fight... They do not respect SF and have pretty much deemed their title worthless. SF really needs to get that in line before they will be legit.

I think everyone wants to see a rematch, however im not sure if StrikeForce will give him a rematch.. they would rather have Overeem vs Werdum fight, simply because no matter what the outcome of the fight is, SF will come out winners.. If Overeem would beat Werdum StrikeForce would win, if Werdum beats Overeem its even more of a win for SF. However if they give Fedor the rematch, and Fedor beats Werdum, then it will put StrikeForce in a wierd position because Fedor's contract will be out.

Werdum being a respectable guy, would like a rematch with Fedor.. Knowing that Fedor's management will want a rematch also to avenge his loss.

You are absolutely correct. Strikeforce would love nothing more than for Werdum to defeat Overeem. However, if Overeem wins, still not a bad thing. I say they would prefer Werdum tho because he just beat the #1 ranked fighter, but that does not make him #1..... BUT, if he beats Overeem, then they can once again make the argument that they have the HW king. Not to mention the back story... Fighter leaves UFC, fighter trains hard, fighter beats "p4p king" (if u ever believed that story) and becomes champion of SF...

The flaw to this entire scenario tho, is that we are assuming that SF gets a say in who faces who in their promotion.

#1 ranked according to whom? I don't believe there has been a single objective ranking that has left Fedor in the #1 slot. Not #1 HW, let alone #1 P4P.

This is good for Strikeforce, unless Fedor does the smart thing and leaves while he can still leverage a decent contract out of the UFC. If Fedor had won this, and then beaten Overeem, then what was left? He would have retired with the belt. Now he might be in for 3 more fights.

I suspect he will coast again, he'll take winner of Werdum vs Overeem with no in between fight. And it will be in about a year from now.

I believe that Fedor now knowing what he is dealing with will undoutebly beat the shit out of Werdum, I mean he nearly did, the fight almost ended in 30 sec because Fedor knocked Werdum down. I believe Fedor will get his rematch and go back to Russia afterwords where hell pursue his other passions and will be finally away from all this.

I would like to see the rematch. I think it will be very interesting to see if Fedor retires now or if this loss reinvigorates him. I hope it is the later. This fight seems to me to be another version of the Penn V Edgar fight or maybe even more aptly, GSP V Serra I. Not to take anything away from Werdum, that was a legit win, but Fedor is better than that. He made a mistake and got caught by a world class BJJ practitioner. Fedor's future is what ever he decides it is. There are people out there that can beat him on their best day, but he can still beat them on his and no one has ever done what he has.

I don't think anyone seriously thinks that werdum is now number1 heavyweight...beating him still wouldn't really prove anything imo...except maybe it wasn't a good idea to jump into a guys guard carefree

I think Fedor thought he could do to Werdum what he did to Big Nog. He was wrong. I would love to see a rematch just because I like to see losses avenged but it probably would be quick. Fedor would stay on his feet and KO Werdum. If it happens I am calling a first round KO.
