Birthday man Alistair Overeem talks about Fedor, Brock Lesnar, Strikeforce and much more

Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem sat down with MMAFighting's reporter Ariel Helwani to discuss an array of subjects, related to his newly-ignited career. Alistair Overeem has successfully defended his title for the first time in three years, against the heavy-hitting Brett Rogers at Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery. The event took place last weekend at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

Megareem's next adventure will probably be under K-1 rules, as the Dutchman stated numerous times that improving his previous-best 3rd place in 2009 K-1 WGP is one of the ambitions for 2009. Out of his 33 career victories, Alistair Overeem has 13 TKO's, 19 Submissions and only one decision.

Spencer is retarded and annoying. I am sure most of you probably just skipped over him. I dont know who he is honestly, but he made me want to pluck my eye lashes out one by one while he was talking. This moron says, "These guys are artists" then turns around and says "You're lucky they're doing this instead of punching your teeth out at the local bar" Something to that effect..... What an Oxymoronic, contradictory, goober. He was annoying the shit outta Ariel!!

Oh come on I thought it was hilarious, and Ariel apologizing after the interview and calling him an idiot was comedy gold.

You do get muscles like that with natural training. It just takes you 15 years of almost daily lifting. He's refused to defend his belt for years, refused to fight outside of Japan... It's pretty obvious that he's juiced. Watch the fight where he lost to chuck, that was toward the end of 03, and Overeem was built exactly like Brandon Vera.

BS. I know bigger guys than him who are natural. If you have never done any real power training the first few months you experience an explosion of muscle growth.

on not a big overeem fan but you guys don't know jack about weight training or conditioning. 15yrs? overeem was already a very active atheletic guy, who was cutting weight to make 205.

you put on muscle in cycles, you peak and fall. you make the biggest gains in things like mass in the first few years of training, so you can actually get "big" in a few years maybe 3-4 if you are really training smart. not like mokoko training 6-7 hours a day? that is not healthy, the actual statement sounds fake actually proatheletes don't train for 6-7 hours a day maybe 3-4 spread out over two workouts a day, but still not every day.

the only thing overeem needed to do to get that size was lift about 3-4 times a week, and do full body powerlifts. if i was looking to put on mass i would do pull, clean, press (all exercises)3 sets 6-10 reps, deadlift 8-10 reps, squat 10-12 reps, chest press 6-10 reps, weighted pull ups 10-12 reps, weighted walking lunges 12-15 reps, bicep curls to shoulder press 10-12reps, skull curshers 10-12reps, hanging leg raises untill failure. eat alot of meat, drink alot of milk(natural whey protien about 8gm's in a 8oz glass) eat lots of veggies and eat a healthy amount of carbs with a little bit of natural sugar's. all that on top of his already demanding kickboxing/grappling training for probally a hour or 2 a day, that is a more than enough to get anyone big for their size. you should remember that most "weight lifting" routines are actually assuming that you are doing something else as a form of exercise, running, wrestling, soccer, something.

overeem wasn't built like brandon vera, overeem was lean and muscular and vera was a bit chubby at hw.

people need to get over the idea of people fighting in other countries. it couldn't be that overeem was fighting in japan because its cheaper and easier to get their from holland than to america. and he has been active in K-1, its not like he just said he would like to and never did.

we will never know if he used a roid, japan didn't check and he apparently pissed clean this time. so please people get over it, and don't talk about how he couldn't get in shape just because you couldn't get in shape. its like listening to those people who think that because they don't understand how the pyramids where built; that they must have been built by aliens.

Sorry for the dual posts here guys, but I hadnt finished the entire interview, I was just so annoyed by that guy I had to post right then.

Anyways, I have actually become an Overeem fan at this point. Not a bandwagon type thing, because it sincerely has nothing to do with his being the champ. I like the guy, great attitude and very honest. I also respect the fact that he is real about other promotions. He understands the business side of things. Also it takes a confident man to admit a HW champ in another organization, being Lesnar, is talented and a great athlete. Its no secret that Brock has alot of work to do in becoming an authentic well-rounded martial artist, but I think its pretty cool that Overeem admits to being a fan.

Gave himself a blackbelt. What a retard. No spiritually, I mean, spiritually I just felt like a Gracie black-belt.

Is that called a transbelt disorder? Like, transgender, He's a black-belt trapped in a brown-belt's body?

Overeem struggling to put on a hat, looked like these Orangutans I saw in a documentary where they lived near a village and would snag people's clothes and try to put them on. They'd steel bars of soap and eat them.

Reminds me of that video of the boxer who is too dumb to figure out how to step through the ropes, has to lie down on the mat and roll under... Overeem seems like a nice guy, but, damn...

Wow, aren't you the racist tard coming out of the closet. Whatsamatter? Overeem stealing all the attention from your man-crush Brock? Funny how you never comment on Lesnar's amazing ability to put on massive weight in weeks, or his retarded behavior in and outside the cage. Give it up girl, Brock already has a bitch.

When did he say anything about Brock? Why cant you be a fan of Overeem without being threatened by Lesnar? You just sounded as stupid as he did. Both of you are acting like little bitches selling out talented fighters.

I had to skip way ahead because of the first tard they were interviewing. He didn't have anything bad to say about Lesnar. Said he doesn't have a lot of technical ability yet, but he's impressive. etc.
