Antonio Silva's manager says "Big Foot" could face Overeem in October

Strikeforce heavyweight Antonio "Big Foot" Silva (14-2-0), who is coming off a unanimous decision win over former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski, is awaiting word on when he will make his return to the cage.  While nothing is official at this time, Silva's manager Alex Davis revealed that the Brazilian may be next in line for a title shot against champion Alistair Overeem, a match that he says could take place as early as October.

“Big Foot will probably fight in October, maybe for the title, but nothing has been set by the event. Fedor would also be a great opponent for him. (Sergei) Kharitonov is another possibility."

The former EliteXC heavyweight champion rebounded with his victory over Arlovski following a disappointing unanimous decision loss to Fabricio Werdum in his promotional debut.  Though "Big Foot" is merely 1-1 under the Strikeforce banner, with M-1 and Fedor on the fence regarding the Russian's future with the promotion and Werdum scheduled to undergo surgery, it seems Silva may get an opportunity to sneak through the back door.

"We’re hoping they’ll put him against Overeem. Big Foot is on a great moment, focused, in a good rhythm. He’ll fight any guy they’ll tell him to,” Davis concluded.

I have to admit the victory over AA was slightly impressive. Arlovski has always been one of my favorites.

Big Foots win over Arlovski was in my opinion of slight bearing due to the fact that Andrei had two consecutive losses.. I think he should fight Bobby Lashley to make the title contention more interesting.. Titles aside, I'd really love to see Fedor vs Overeem happen. Fedors gonna be back better this time around and Alistair is just the guy to put Fedor to the test. That said, Silva vs Lashley would be a great co-main event and morale booster for strikeforce since they just lost a great fighter in Jake Sheilds.. What do you guys think?

I think that'd be a great fight for Lashley but I cant see Silva wanting to take that if he's talking about fighting Overeen and Fedor. But I definitely agree that'd be a good matchup

Strikeforce don't seem interested seeing Lashley against top guys right now. I just want to see Overeem fight before the end of the year against it be Fedor or Silva

Overeem vs Fedor, Bigfoot vs Rogers, Arlovski vs Kharitonov. I want to see it.

That wouldn't be a good idea for Strikeforce to have Bigfoot fight for the title. He should fight Lashly.

I like Bigfoot. Iwas super impressed with his win over Arlovski and even though he lost I was pretty impressed with his performance against Werdum. I think he would have won the latter if he hadn't gassed. That said I think having him fight for the title right now would be ridiculous. If M-1 makes a mess out of this and keeps Overeem V Fedor from happening then I hate to say it but there are only two options that would make sense to me; A, have Overeem wait until Werdum is healthy OR B, hold a HW tournament to decide the #1 contender slot and have the winner fight Overeem two months later which might take just as long. I really hope M-1 lets the Overeem V Fedor fight happen.

Fedor vs Big Foot would make a lot of sense actually, thou it will be interesting to see who Kharitonov will face in his first fight for Strikeforce.
