Strikeforce Heavyweight Tournament participants Alistair Overeem, Fabricio Werdum, Josh Barnett, promotion's CEO  Scott Coker and M-1 Director of Global Operations Evgeni Kogan shared their thoughts on Fedor Emelianenko's defeat against Antonio Silva. Last night's event marked the first round of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Tournament, as Sergei Kharitonov and Antonio Silva advanced to the semi-finals. Strikeforce will return on March 5th, with a stacked Feijao vs. Henderson fight card, which will take place at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

Props to MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani for the interviews.

    Overeem said all the right things...In my opinion, I hope M-1 rots and let the great Fedor free. The sport has evolved, let Fedor evolve as well.

    @johnnyk and wartaal677

    The SF production was very bad so maybe you muted the live promo of Werdum v Overeem before the main event but he thats when he said 50-50 his exact words were 50-50/60-40 to Fedor which is what Ariel picked up on and why HE brought it up to the Reem coz he was paying attention. Obvioulsy you two were not but I don't blame the SF production was very awkward at times.

    Actually in the beginning of the show when it starts, they ask him about and then he says 50-50 OR(slash 60-40 to Fedor). But basically 50-50 but a slight advantage to Fedor. So he is not lying, but earlier he only said 60-40, so he changed it just before the the alternate fights were starting. And thats his prerogative if he wants to clarify what he meant.

    ...or what? What will you do Mr. Kogan?

    When Kogan made that remark, is when Helwani should have turned the camera off and walked away; what an attitude, man. This guy is a nobody and who really cares what he thinks. He should be grateful that anyone would want to know his opinion on anything, let alone shove a mic and a camera in his face and say...tell the world!

    The question AH should have asked this idiot - If Fedor retires...what will you do for a living? ...should have asked him that..."before" the fight.

    I wish that too. Dana is a bad image for the sport. Scott is polite, respectful, and doesn't over-hype his announcements in his press conferences.

    I'm relatively new to watching the sport of MMA, but Silva weighed in at 264 during the weigh ins, but at fight time they said he was 280/290, can someone explain to me how that could be possible? For him to gain 15-25 pounds overnight?

    "re-hydration", would be the biggest thing. They must suck a lot of water out of him, leading up to the weigh-in.

    Listen guys: Fedor is a great ambassador of MMA, a humble human being, and WAS a great fighter back in Pride! Having said that, he was most certainly NOT the best p4p fighter in the world. His record would have been much more impressive if he would've fought more than once a year against quality opponents. No disrespect to Fedor! He was incredibly focused, and is a humble, kind person, but Anderson Silva is the best p4p in the world...GSP would be up there too if he would just finish fights!

    Weak me all you want, but look at his record! Most of the guys he has wins over are scrubs, or has beens! Seriously Sylvia got knocked out by RAY MERCER for crying out loud! Arlovski? Please!!! Like I said, he was awsome in Pride, But A. Silva is tops in my book! The way he finishes guys by crazy knockouts, and submits guys is insane! Fedor was great, but not the best...just face the facts!

    I'm wondering and I feel like what's wrong with everyone that they haven't been discussing the possibility of Fedor going down to light-heavyweight?!

    Fedor was doing relatively good against 55 pounds heavier Big Foot - the guy just couldn't submit him! How he escaped all those submissions is just amazing, so Fedor still has a lot to prove, but the times when he was a dominant heavyweight are over; back in the day fighters weren't so well rounded, Fedor was probably the first if not the best well rounded fighter out there, that's why he could compensate his "smaller" heavyweight body with his "greater" skill set. But nowadays everyone at the top is excellent at EVERYTHING. They're gunning for mistakes and holes in each other and being 55 pounds lighter sure is a big hole and big foot capitalized on it. Fedor couldn't shake him off.

    So, my point is, Fedor doesn't have to retire, he just should go into the right weight class. He should always be in light-heavyweight if you ask me.

    I actually think he should stay at HW if he doesn't retire. Like you said, a 50 lb heavier guy with a black belt in bjj couldn't sub him. I thought for sure he was done when Silva sunk in that arm triangle but NOPE! IF Fedor wants to stick around he just needs to train better. I think he would get eaten alive at LHW. The jump in skill from HW to LHW is just too great.

    i think also, it sounds like fedor said he had ring rust. i mean u cant fight like 4 times in like 3 years and expect to adjusted to it. im also with werdum in the fact that fedor training also might be a problem. im not sayin he needs to come to america and all that but the sport has evolved drastically over the past 5 - 10 years and fedor has got an iron jaw and the heart of 5 lions, i think fedor jus needs to stay active

    All fighters give respect to Fedor, they know what is like to be defeated. They know what it takes to win a fight. But DW is full of shit, he has no respect to any fighter including the UFC fighters. He looks at them as walking pockets full of big money (Brock, GSP, AS, Shogun) and change (Shields, Carwin, JDS, Nelson). Look what he talks about Rashad (although, I don't like Rashad), but at least Rashad is making his statement that he is not going to fight his friends. That's what DW wants, friend fight friend, brother fights brother. If it makes more money for him, he would make father vs son.
