Well there's another historically memorable event in the books for the UFC. One of the most hyped fights involving some of the worst blood ever seen on display leading up to a fight.

Georges St. Pierre continued to cement his legacy with a well earned win over the most polarizing opponent of his career, dominating him in all areas of the fight en route to a unanimous decision victory.

Details on the event are listed below as well as the post fight press conference.

Attendance 20, 145

$3.7 million Gate

Fight of the Night - Johny Hendricks vs Carlos Condit

Knockout of the Night - Jake Ellenberger

Did you miss the 10 minutes of boxing, the thing Diaz apparently had a huge advantage in, that GSP picked him apart? Diaz hit him like less than 10 times and GSP caught him with countless stiff jabs and lead hooks

GSP won the fight in all aspects while Hendricks lost the fight but won the match vs Carlos. Personally I scored the fight for Carlos granted I don't use the UFC criteria when I do so.

Whatever Keith, It was so far from 'the worst beating ever' which I kinda expecting. Therefore, disappointing. And the couple of times Diaz did connect, it was more effective then GSP's mini "stiff jabs"

DOMINATE is far too strong a word to describe the stand up fight. when i think dominate, i think putting on a serious clinic, which gsp did not do. he pretty much out pointed nick to win a one sided victory, but by no means did he ********DOMINATE the stand up

Georges did look good in the stand up and got the better of most of the exchanges but it was not due solely to being a better striker. He used to first two rounds to tire Nick out and make him think about the wrestling. No judgment here just noting that his striking was better because of the wrestling.

Exactly. When the takedown is apparent, the striking will come easier. Diaz did well stopping the takedown, but couldn't capitalize.

I'd like to formally congratulate all the Nick Diaz fans for supporting an underachieving, whining, douchebag, loser, who couldn't be more ungracious and disrespectful in defeat.

After all of your wasted time posting about how good Diaz is, I hope you realized that Georges defeated him in every area of mixed martial arts humanly possible.

So with that said, I'll wrap this up by simply saying I told you so and that you were wrong.

And because you're probably all sore losers just like Nick, you can go ahead and weak me now : D

Dont worry Bryan, you can already read the comments about Hendricks is going to be the one to destroy GSP, if that fails there will be someone else.

Hopefully one day these WWE converts will leave home, get girlfriends, get a life and not be so jealous of the WW champion who wins 98%+ of all rounds he fights against top tier opponents in one of the deepest divisions in MMA.

It is also interesting to note how many who said Diaz would destroy GSP with his boxing or Jitz game are the same ones complaining that GSP didn't finish the very same guy. He nullified most of Diaz's game for the majority of 25 minutes with another demonstration of why he is one of the MMA fighters on the planet.

Another aspect they are happily blind to is the standard of Diaz's jitz off his back. GSP fought off several postions Diaz managed to get from off his back and retain dominance and deliver more damage.

Bryan, I agree with your assessment of (many) Diaz fans.

Those Diaz fans who dared show their sigs on any boards seem to come up with a litany of excuses--just like their idol Nick--as to why Diaz lost in such a convincing fashion.

What I find amazing is the willful blindness of Diaz fans. GSP stood and traded with Diaz for a huge chunk of the fight--and he clearly got the better of the exchanges.

    The usual whines come out:
    1. But GSP didn't finish Diaz (but its OK that Diaz did not finish Condit or BJ Penn)
    2. GSP 'appeared' to have taken more damage than Nick Diaz--ergo, GSP really lost the fight.
    3. GSP may have won, but because he did it in his usual dominant/boring (well-rounded MMA) fashion--it really doesn't count as a real win.
    4. GSP only fought Diaz to avoid Hendricks--cause GSP is askeered of Biggus Riggus.

Many Diaz fans don't just support their fighter--they take pleasure in bashing non-Diaz fighters--and GSP is enemy number one. They seek to find flaws in GSP--no matter how insignificant, yet they are willing to forgive virtually any flaws in Diaz.

In short, Diaz fans create a toxic, negative environment on MMA boards because they take the whole fanboy thing so seriously--almost like a sick cult.

So taking into consideration all the **** Diaz fans have thrown at GSP and other fighters, and supporters--Bryan, you can be forgiven for rubbing their little pug noses in the excement they usually dish out.

It'll come. I'm looking forward to it. That will be the biggest test of GSP's career hands down. In fact I honestly think I'd have to pick Hendricks. GSP doesn't have the chin that Condit does, he can't take those kinds of shots ans stay standing.

As much as I respect and like GSP, if they fight I think I'd have to choose Hendricks to be honest.

As much as I'd like George to lose at this point I really hope Hendricks isn't the guy that does it. I can't stand watching that guy fight. His striking technique is awful. If he fought the way he does but lacked the brute force he would either lose every fight or be the worst of the lay and pray artists. I hope that GSP V Hendricks goes down like GSP V Koscheck but I fear you may be right.

This press-conference was sad... when Diaz came in, every time he talked he made a new excuse or tried to say something negative about another fighter at the presser.

Apart from the complaining and excuses, Diaz actually asked for a fight with Anderson Silva and a rematch with GSP... even though he is on a 2 fight losing streak.

Worst of all he said numerous times that he knows he would beat GSP in a rematch, even though he was easily handled less than an hour ago by the same man.

    Class act...

Pointing out a fact about Diaz having no class isn't classless, or ironic, it is merely pointing out a fact.

So many great potential matchups still in welterweight division especially for
Rory Mc Donald, Damien Maia, Ellenberger and even Nick Diaz.

    Rory vs damien maia
    Rory vs Ellenberger
Rory vs Nick Diaz (Rory already beat Nate) That will fire Nick up.
    Rory vs Condit 2

Robbie brawler vs Nick Diaz in a rematch.

Yeah, I hope you're right. I'd like to see him continue fighting. He's a great fighter and The UFC isn't exactly flush with characters, these days. I have no idea why he'd hang it up, now, just as he's started to make legitimately decent money. Makes no sense, to me.

If there ever has been a poster boy on how not to manage your career... Nick would be it. All young UFC fighters need to take note on what not to do.

This guy has a million excuses for everything that has happened to him. At the end of the day... you have to hold yourself accountable. Bad camps, all wrestlers, didn't pay taxes, change the rules to Pride rules... and on and on and on. So... when he was 5 fights deep in to his career... he couldn't reach out to other camps of successful fights at the time to learn about managing his career?

The guy is talented... been in a ton of battles... you can't take that away from him.... but where would he be if the excuses stopped and he lived up to his full potential? He'd be the champ IMO.

Sorry Nick,... still like your fights... but have grown tired of the excuses.

Condit/Hendircks made the cars... damn that was a fun fight to watch. On the fence to who won it. GSP has his hands full... the division is deep with talent.

Hope they both stay healthy ... and the fight happens.

Personally I believe Carlos won the fight, Hendricks did almost nothing but takedowns and would have been stopped by Carlos if it had been a 5 round fight, which it should have been.

So strange that people are giving credit to Hendricks because Carlos made it a great fight but people criticize GSP because Diaz made it a boring fight. Was shocking to me how passive Diaz was in the stand up.

Give Saffiedine the next title shot and let Hendricks fight Ellenberger.

Whenever Diaz stops the takedown multiple times he forgets about the volume standing. Did the same thing against Sherk and Karo.

In my opinion Condit won that fight... all Johny did is take him down a bunch of times and did absolutely NOTHING with it... Condit beat the **** out of him... these f*ckin takedowns are overrated and fighters should not get so many points for them especially when they take someone down and get elbowed in the f*cking face til they are forced to get up again!

Thoalways Diaz showed well (in the cage). He stopped multiple takedowns, but just forgot about the striking when he had George reeling. I think getting handled on the ground really tired him out.
After the fight was sad, but not at all surprising. Hopefully he goes and boxes at least once now.

    "I want a re-match"....LOL!

As he sits beside Johnny Hendricks...LOL!!

Nick seems to have an excuse for every loss and in every loss, he's convinced he actually won. All his victories are earned. All his losses seem to be the result of bad refs, judges, fighters not doing what he wants / needs them to do, not getting enough help, not getting enough attention, not having enough money to properly train and stress, resulting from uncertainty.

    "I want a re-match..." LOL! Priceless, man.

I wonder if he wants a re-match with Condit, before his re-match with GSP or if he'd prefer to fight Anderson Silva first, then take the GSP, Condit re-matches. However, if he lost to The Spider and assuming he'd want a re-match for that, too, then he'd have to decide, of three victories he was robbed of, which should he avenge first.

Ring...Ring...Ring....Nick....It's Robbie Lawler on line 2...and BJ Penn, Paul Daley, Evangelista Santos, K. J. Noons and a bunch of other fighters are all wishing to speak with you as well and they all seem to be mumbling something about re-matches, why they lost and knowing they can beat you.

    "I want a re-match..."LOL!

I'm shocked Hendricks didn't either laugh or just call him a whiner and tell him to shut-up.
