London (28th June 2012). Europe’s leading Mixed Martial Arts promotion, BAMMA, is proud to announce a ground-breaking TV deal with Channel 5 in the UK.

BAMMA’s debut on Channel 5 with ‘Kong v Ninja’ drew aproximately 500,000 viewers, making this one of the most watched MMA events ever to be screened in the UK.

Now BAMMA is to take an unprecedented step into the mainstream in a partnership that is set to be pivotal for British Mixed Martial Arts: BAMMA 10 is to be broadcast for the first time live on Channel 5’s sister channel, 5*; with Channel 5 televising a highlights package the following week. BAMMA 10 will take place at London’s iconic Wembley Arena on Saturday 15th September and the two hour live broadcast goes out on 5* at 21:00hrs.

BAMMA’s director, David Green said: “We are thrilled to clinch this game-changing deal with 5; and based on our recent viewing figures feel certain that the partnership will be a great success. We are proud to be leading MMA into the UK mainstream under a British banner and welcome the opportunity that Channel 5 brings to further establish the sport of Mixed Martial Arts in this country.”

If all the chicks looked like that in the UK, I'd be moving there very soon.

No surprise there, Channel 5 started doing boxing this year but I have the say the production and coverage was poor, commentary was cool but the post fight interviews and recaps were awful. The UFC had unleashed on 5 and 5USA and one point, it'll be interesting to see what the UFC do with their UK TV deals in the over the next year, ESPN(UK version) just lost the EPL(soccer) to BT and people only include ESPN at £10 extra on their package because were football crazy in the UK. Anyway GREAT NEWS for UK fans we get live MMA free on national TV.

shame no one watches 5*, only hardcore mma fans will tune in and once the deal expires it wont be renewed, but meh, free mma, yay.

For anyone not in the know, channel 5 is a one of the 5 free channels so anyone in the UK can get it even if they only have a TV and aerial.

    Maybe some electricity too

true 3 years ago, now there are about 30 free channels (and 40 or so digital radio stations) that are picked up by 99.9% of tv's in the UK, and channel 5 is among the least popular, and the Five network has 3 channels, Five, Five USA and Five*, each one less popular than the one before it, the network is mainly known for csi re-runs and an occasional cowboy movie from the 1980s and this is a strange move for them
