It seems the UFC's debut in Australia may have opened the door for additional promotions.  According to MMANews.com, shortly following the UFC's successful event, IFC (Impact Fighting Championships) has announced their intentions to bring their show to Brisbane, Australia on July 10th, and have already began scheduling match-ups.

As this past week kicked-off, Josh Barnett 25-5-0, revealed he would be one of many fighters on the card, squaring off against the 17-8-0 Brazilian, Geronimo dos Santos.  In addition to one solid match up, a second fight has been announced.

Two UFC former champs and Hall of Famers are said to have been offered a spot on the card.  MMANews.com stated they have spoken to a source close to Coleman's camp who confirmed the offer was made and that Coleman has, in fact, accepted a legend vs legend match-up with Ken Shamrock.

Coleman's last performance, which ended in a submission loss to Couture at UFC 109, has been described by many as lack-luster and may likely be what led to his release from the MMA behemoth, the UFC.

Meanwhile, the bouts counter part, Ken Shamrock, may find himself fighting more than just a fellow veteran of the sport, ring-rust.  Shamrock hasn't participated in a sanctioned event in more than a year and a half, resulting from a suspension after testing positive for banned substances.

While this may make for an entertaining contest, it is suffice to say both man have reached the end of their long road as poineers of MMA.

Thanks. I know IFC isnt much of an organizaton, but the Shamrock vs Coleman fight is an interesting match-up. I say that because if u have respect for the sport you know that these guys matter. Plus, their fans may want to watch what is probably going to be each guys final fight. Josh Barnett has a following and his opponent doesnt look like a walk through the park.

Im just playing your game, "you and that idiot" being your other account. Stop messing up threads going back to old posts and being a child. There was JUST news posts about this event. You have no idea about MMA. Josh Barnett, Shamrock, Coleman? Your obviously some kid who only knows fighters like Tito Ortiz and Brock Lesnar from hearing about them at the lunch table at school. Nerdy ass dude.

Interesting stuff. I had no idea this was in development but I'll definitely be following it from here forward. Sounds like two pretty decent fights too.
