Shark Fights 14 Card Official for Friday Night on HDNet
Posted on March 10, 2011, 10:21 PM by Joey SantosusThe line-up for this Friday's Shark Fights 14, which will air live on HDNet, is now complete with a total of 13 match-ups.
The event takes place at the Fair Park City Coliseum in Lubbock, Texas and will be headlined by a Middleweight clash between Matt Horwich (26-17-1) and Danillo Villefort (12-3), while female contenders Tara LaRosa (19-2) and Carina Damm (15-5) will go head to head in the co-main event.
A former International Fight League (IFL) Champion, Horwich will make his Shark Fights debut after winning two of his last three match-ups, including stoppage victories over Thales Leites and Jake Rosholt. His recent success follows a professional low-point, during which time he went 1-5, including back to back losses against Dan Miller and Ricardo Almeida that ultimately led to his release from the UFC. Having competed under various promotions, such as Strikeforce and Bellator, the veteran boasts an impressive 20 submission victories and has never lost a fight via knockout.
Villefort, meanwhile, was also released from the UFC in 2009 following a TKO loss (via doctor stoppage) to Jesse Lennox. In the time since, he has racked up three straight victories, including a unanimous decision win over former Strikeforce title contender Joey Villasenor in his Shark Fights debut last September. The Brazilian will look to continue building momentum, as he has won eight of his last nine bouts, which includes six first round stoppage victories.
The event will be aired live on HDNet starting at 10 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. PT and will feature commentary by "The Voice" Michael Schiavello and Frank "Twinkle Toes" Trigg.
