    what a ****ing idiot. the guy kept tapping, and the ref is staring into his eyes, not watching the whole picture. referees should have to be put in submission holds so they know wtf is happening, part of their training.

    @Dropkickmurphy.

    I agree. I feel like there should be charges of like reckless endangerment for referees that don't properly protect fighter's safety. maybe that would help these idiots from signing up and saying they know what they're doing, when they really have no idea. it's disgusting to watch this, while that idiot doesn't do anything till THE WINNING FIGHTER just stops and gets up. Even he knew it was enough. And generally as a fighter you wait on the ref to stop it! This ref deserves to be banned from referreeing any sport for life.

    Bad refereeing should be a criminal offense.

    the ref should train brazjj and should experience geting choke untill they realize that you need atleast a min to supply ur brain with o2 and tap.

    To add to my point look at death caused by "dangerous driving" or "battery" with a vehicle charges - that could be that the person just took their eye off the road for 1 second and as a result someone died. Unfortunately even though they did not set out to kill, they still have to face the possible consequence of prison.

    Seen as the referee knows there is more of a chance of somebody getting injured in a MMA fight he is officiating than driving his car that fool really needs to have his wits about him. I feel for him but he has to be punished severely...same as the Couture ref.

    that ref should be fired. that guy could be in some serious shit form that arm triangle. but its not the victors fault for holding the submission, ref would have made them continue

    First Lentz vs. Oliveira, then Couture vs. Bird, and now this Turkish event. All inside two months

    Honestly, I'm curious at this point, what is it about MMA that has some of the most incompetent referees ever to graze any sport?

    Can't comprehend these referees.... it's as if they've never seen an MMA fight before and have no idea what to expect or look for.... or maybe they're boxing referees and really have no idea.

    Worst thing I've seen from an official in MMA - he shouldn't be allowed to referee ever again

    That ref has to be blind inhis left eye..right??? Poor guy was twitching after on the floor. And unfortuantlly because of people like sonnen who say they never tapped you can't let go till the ref stops it.

    I am afraid that if it was someone I was cornering that was tapping like that and the ref was not even looking for it... I would have punched him right in the mouth and put his ass to sleep!!!

    something went wrong.

    completely wrong.

    it was like watching two sports at the same time:

    a mma event with a curling referee.
