M-1 Global announced that more than 7.5 million people watched the November 20th Fedor Emelianenko vs. Jeff Monson event in Russia, making it the most viewed sports event from November 14th to November 20th. M-1 Global already broke the attendance record for Mixed Martial Arts event in Europe, with 22,153 spectators witnessing Emelianenko's triumph at the Olympic Sports Arena in Moscow, Russia.

The event was aired live on Rossiya-2, a state-operated channel that broadcasts mostly sports translations. "Battle of Legends" fight card delivered bigger numbers in Russia than soccer, beating Sunday's English Premier League and Friday's Russian Premier League matches.

It's important to note than 7.5 million is a "total number". According to the report, 4.9 million people watched the event live, 1.1 million on the same day replay, and nearly 3 million during another replay on the following day. The total number includes only the unique viewers, excluding those who watched the show more than once.

Next M-1 Global fight card will take place on December 9th at the OC Fair & Events center in Costa Mesa, California. The event will be headlined by the Lightweight collision between Alexander Sarnavskiy and Francisco Drinaldo.

I edited in - the event was aired live on Rossiya-2. It's like a Russian version for Fox Sports..... if you like the analogy.

Is it just me... or are they showing these numbers to get Dana's attention to show how many views this would add on to PPV buys over here in America if they "Co-promoted"? Those slick Russians...

I wouldn't be surprised if Vladim streched out the numbers a bit.

It is amusing how threatened Americans get a soon as something does well outside of its borders.

Actually it would be nice to see another group from another country do the same thing UFC is doing. This way there will always be good fights and UFC wouldn't look like Microsoft. MMA has become a dictatorship via DW.

Chuck Liddell actually faced stiff competition, and didn't have a inflated record. Soon as Fedor got some tough competition, daddy came swooping back in, and took him back to the minor league. I think we could probably get Boss Rutten to come out of retirement and fight Fedor. Make you guys happy...Oh my fellas another Fedor win! I would personally rather watch midget wrestling or ice capades. Put him back in the UFC and let the chip fall where they may!

Unfortunately, this fight goes down as one of the most boring in the history of MMA. It doesn't matter of 6 billion people watched it.

Like it or not, but 22 thousand in the arena and 7.5 millions views are not too bad for this event.

It is just hard to realize that there are other MMA markets worldwide that can be explored. Russia is still the biggest country in the world and can have a big MMA market also, it is just the beginning.

I think Dana has burned his bridges with the Russian market with his treatment of Fedor. M1 global is to Russia as UFC is to America.
