Bellator Middleweight champion Hector Lombard extended his unbeaten streak to 24 straight fights when he recorded a second round submission over Jesse Taylor on the Australian Fight Championship 2 card on September 3.

The last time Lombard tasted defeat was November 5. 2006 when he dropped a unanimous decision to Gegard Mousasi on the PRIDE Bushido 13 card. Lombard does have one draw since that loss, a three round draw to Kyle Noke at Cage Fighting Championship 1 in July 2007.

Lombard is recognized by most as one of the top Middleweight fighters competing outside of the UFC.  Following his victory over Taylor, Lombard had the following to offer in regard to UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva, “I wouldn’t be frightened of him. I would go in there to take the head off.” – read the complete fight card recap at Sherdog.com.

What do you think LowKick’ers, how would Lombard fare against Silva?

Yea go in there and take his head off, that's a totally new type of strategy and that's exactly why it's so successful.

Hector is a good fighter has fought a lot of ok fighters he is

the big fish in his fish tank and for writers to talk to him on fighting

the meanest shark in the ocean cause he is the baddest in the tank

is crazy now if he had fought a couple others out of the UFC or maybe

recent cuts from the UFC that were GOOD ufc fighter but had bad luck

and if he crushed them then would be an interesting conversation

so I hope Bellator sets him up for a couple more super fights like they did for Eddie against Huarta (was a top ufc fighter) josh neer (same)

so if he can get a couple super fights then talk about Silva..and yes I

know Jesse Taylor was a UFC fighter but if it wasnt for TUF would know much more about him

Being passive is the worst possible strategy vs Anderson, going in and taking his head of is exactly what Sonnen did for 4 and a half rounds. People tend to forget that Sonnen knocked Silva down as many times as he took him down.

Personally I think Lombard is a bigger challenge then all but maybe 2 people in the UFC.

Fedor number1 p4p? Well atleast you're not like the rest of them that jumped to GSP.

Winners don't use drugs, and noone should train with losers, just ask okami.

Striking against a counter striker isnt exactly the smartest strategy either.

Beating 24 cans and semi-cans made him believe he's pound 4 pound material. Poor delusional Lombard ...

Hector is amazing, but I can't support that quote in any way lol! The only thing I can say, is that he has Chael Sonnens approach and style of getting inside Silva's guard with the power to stay there and quickness to counter. His fights are amazing, feel pretty sad for the ones he crushes.

he should defenitly go to the ufc for a title run. mw division is the least talented and would need some new firepower.....

I would really like to here a detailed explanation of why the MW division is the least talented. I keep seeing people write this and it is pure BS. Damian Maia is one of the top three grapplers in the world. AS is the greatest fighter ever to compete in MMA. Jacare Souza is also the creme of the grappling world. Sonnen Munoz and Okami are excellent wrestlers. Vitor Belfort, Stann, Kennedy, etc, etc, etc, are all extremely talented fighters. How is this division weaker than WW or LHW? It is a ridiculous statement.

maybe cuz Anderson already beat leban, franklin, lutter, marquardt, hendo, cote, leites, maia, sonnen, belfort & okami at 185 which doesnt mean the division is weak overall but there is no sure challenger for the title right now

Hector Lombard hasn't earned a fight against anyone top 10 in the UFC, let alone the greatest fighter of all time. This article sums it up really

Hector Lombard extends his streak after beating another unknown, unproven limited mma fighter, his last lost came to moussasi- the only decent fighter he's fought. He's got a draw against Kyle Noke and the other guys are irrelevant mma fighters. He needs to shut up, sign with the UFC and worry about wining his first fight before running his mouth like this. I can think of a doven guys in the middleweight division who'd rip his arm off.

Hector you big dope, you should be aspiring to beat guys like Maia or Bisping at this point, and hoping to get past people like Dan Miller. Beat someone with a legit mma record then we'll talk.

he has as much of a chance as belfort. all it could take is 1 punch.

    is it likely? No.

    i it possible? yes

Silva would kill him. But if he did sign for the ufc, I reckon he could be quite successful in the middleweight division just because of his versatility. He can stand with most people in the division and still use his judo if he is outmatched against on the feet against someone like belfort. Still I think he would be coming in with a similar skill set to akiyama, which while it makes exciting fights, isn't that effective against higher tier strikers or grapplers like belfort or maia.

Wow...I never heard that rumor that Hector was on the juice.. If he is, he needs to get by that piss test first.

Lets say that an issue...He hasnt fought anyone the caliber of any top 10 UFC in his weight class... Quit playing in these other organization and step into the fire bro.....

I dont really like Hendo either...he was cut from the UFC. He lost against Silva also. He lost quit a few and now a Star in the minor league Strikeforce. Its not a coincidence that alot of the UFC cut list are now stars in other organizations.

    sad truths.....
