"The Last Emperor" Fedor Emelianenko cut his 3-fight losing streak with a Unanimous Decision victory over Jeff Monson at the Olympic Sports Arena in Moscow, Russia.

Nearly 22,000 spectators witnessed a very methodical and patient Emelianenko, who was not rushing in to go for the kill, like he did against Dan Henderson and Fabricio Werdum. Fedor dominated Monson with an old school kickboxing stance, totally different from what the fans are used to see during his fights.

The Russian legend punished Jeff Monson with leg kicks and simple striking combinations that left no room for aggression from the former UFC Heavyweight title challenger. It looked like Jeff Monson has no offensive plan or whatsoever to deal with "The Last Emperor".

Monson tried to respond with takedown attempts, all ending up in failure. Fedor had Monson knocked down on several occasions, but "The Last Emperor" refused to get into the BJJ legend's guard. Instead, Emelianenko picked his shot from distance in perfect timing, forcing Jeff Monson to stop the strikes with his head.

In the end, Jeff Monson needed a help to walk back to the dressing room, and Fedor Emelianenko gets his first victory since the triumph over Brett Rogers. Fedor is now 33-4 in MMA, looking to set his career back on track.

Congrats Fedor! Fedor is my favorite fighter and it excites me very much to hear this! Too bad it came on at 5:30 AM Eastern Time I would have loved to watch it

Definitely a much sharper and more improved Fedor. His Dutch Muay Thai and kickboxing training was perfectly implemented in this fight. Yes, the fight wasn't very exciting, but we should understand needed a W so badly and didn't like to take any unneeded risk. After all, it was his very offensive and (rather reckless) fighting style that caused his losing streak esp. against Werdum and Hendo...

He lost his Sambo title in Russia shortly before his fight with Werdum. When i watched Cormier throw Big Foot Silva around the cage, I was thinking that was what I had expected Fedor to do to him.

His wresting against Monson looked alot more like the Fedor that ruled Combat Sambo for years.

Looks like it is. Those are big money fights for Fedor, and to be honest - that's what he needs.

Good for fedor. I hope follows suit with wanerlei Silva and rides off into the sunset foramorefufillinglife with friends and family. There isnothing left to proveand he isnt shot as a fighter or a man. He can still train, Do work with M-1 global and devoted more time to impart some knowledge and possibly groom a futue champion.

Thank you for all the wonderfull fights and highlights and best of luck in the future, whatever you decide

It looks like more time went into strategy, and the plan was stuck to, than in his last few fights. The days of instinct alone are over and Fedor appears to be accepting of some more modern training styles

the sad thing is about fedor, he's lost his star power. sure he fought last night. but his fight was overshadowed by the war between Henderson and Shogun

I think most fights would have been overshadowed by the war last night

Fedor was as many pointed out more technical last night. He was also more muscular. I really hope this is a sign of things to come for the still young Fedor. I just hope that he gets a couple more wins and then takes a UFC contract under whatever conditions. It is really the only way for a come back to be relevant now that Zuffa actually does have the majority of the top HWs.

I thought his arms were a bit bigger... but I think most of that added weight was in his belly.

No. If you look again you will see more definition to his pecs and that the fat on his belly wasn't uniform but concentrated in the middle with indentations along the side which is a sign of added muscle underneath.

There was a time when UFC was nothing and PRIDE had all the top fighters,Fedor was the king back then. But now UFC has all the top guys and if Fedor want's to stay relevant perhaps a cut to 205 and a crack at the UFC .. good to see Fedor has notched up a win!

205 is a really bad idea for Fedor. His advantages are speed and agility and he doesn't compare to the LHWs in those areas. He would get eaten alive.

you nut hugging fedor lovers care nothing for the man but rather the bloodsport, instead of the sport itself. He is ans always has been a simple man of faith, Family and friends. Let it be you youngsters unless you have been there!!!!!!!!!
