Fedor Emelianenko: No concrete plans for Fedor to face Bobby Lashley
Posted on January 25, 2012, 09:48 PM by Trent Reinsmith
Earlier this week Bobby Lashley spoke to Fighters Only in regard to his future in the fight game. During his interview Lashley mentioned several possibilities for his next fight, including signing with Bellator, fighting Dave Bautista and most intriguing of all, a bout with Fedor Emelianenko.
Evgeni Kogan, director of operations for M-1 Global has refuted those reports, “There are currently no concrete conversations about Bobby being the next opponent for Fedor.” – for more see USAToday.com.
Kogan did offer up the fact that Emelianenko would probably fight two or three times this year with two possible destinations being Monaco and Russia.
Emelianenko suffered three straight losses between June 2010 and July 2011, but has since gotten back in the win column with wins in his last two fights.
What do you think LowKick’ers, if Emelianenko does not face Lashley, who should his next opponent be?

BOB would be another step down for the emperor...Fedor is having a hard time finding serious competition. Kharitanov would be an interesting match-up...
what the hell does "no conrete conversations" mean is he saying the some form of convo did or did not take place?
Am the biggest fedor fan who ever lived. But I dont want him to fight Lashley . Cuase this fighter sucks .
However in russia ,we would still enjoy to see Russian Fedore beating up an arrogant american (lashley)
I AM BIGGER FEDOR FAN THAN YOU M1 global gangsta and I'm not Russian.
I dissagree with all of you who think Lashley is a can.He is a super powerfull wrestler almost like lesnar and maybe better.
That is a good fight very high competition for FEDOR.
I hear hes fighting "relevance" next.
Honestly Fedor needs to redeem himself, and quite frankly its going to be hard finding good top 10 opponents for Fedor since everyone in the top 10 is under the Zuffa umbrella, Fedor is not even ranked by most sites as being a top 10 guy. What he needs to do is to take a fight with the UFC, he still has enough star power to be a main event and he needs to win so that his name can be out there again.
there are no top 10 opponents for him to fight that arent under the Zuffa banner
Here are a couple decent fights that could potentially happen.
1. Guram Gugenishvili, only problem is that he is an M-1 HW champion, so i doubt that would want him to square off against Fedor.
2. Kenny Garner, is the M-1 interim HW champ, he's not Russian so there is a better chance to face Fedor, unlike Guram.
3. Cole Konrad, Belletor HW champ, I'm sure Belletor would not mind setting up this fight due to high poblucity of Fedor.
4. Josh Barnett, depending if he wins the GP he could either join the UFC or once again fight anywhere he can
5. Sergei, probably would love to fight Fedor in Russia.
none of those scenerios are likely to happen. the first 2 will be last ditch efforts if they put Fedor up against house fighters, and pay him with house money, thats not their style they leach off of other org.
Bellator wont do it because they have shown in the past they will not go outside there payscale for a high price fighter. They past on Nate M, and Hendo.
Barnett will not mess up his chance of getting back into the UFC, for one payday with Fedor, he will make more in his first 2 fights in the UFC.
Sergei is a maybe actully but just like Barnett I doubt he will leave Zuffa under his own power.
who ever weaks this how about you repsond, and tell me what part you disagree with in detail.
I'm not too sure about the direction fedor's career is heading. He has had two tune up fights. The latest one was a debacle against a noob to the mma world. He needs a step up in competition.
didnt weak u because I agree with you for the most part, though I think out of those guys kharitanov might still be the most likely.. but how about you come up with some ideas who fedor should be fighting next yourself...
come to the UFC, and drop all the bulls!t if he intersted in fighting real comp, I really think he can win a bunch of fights there.
yes he can!! fedor on the ufc will be huge... im sure he will have a great chance against frank mirr. and mirr is considered top 5 on his division
bob sapp vs fedor would be the fight of the decade
Bottom line is Fedor needs to fight more quality opponent like the caliber he faced early on his career. If he is inactive this year or keeps fighting opponents that are starting off their career or the ones ending their career then i hate to say this but he will just fade away which would be a shame.
Monson is a legit fighter, as legit as Overeem, Sergei, JDS, or Cain, and far more legit than Brock or Carwin. The guy is a brick who is very hard to knock out (unlike Brock who runs away) and who ca actually go the whole distance even with a broken leg (unlike 1 round Carwin).
Anyone who thinks that Monson is a CAN is a fool. The guy fought for the UFC HW belt twice and has racked up more wins than Brock, Cain, JDS, and Carwin combined.
They wouldn't "destroy" him, i believe every fight Fedor has lost has been a good competition, each fighter who beat him basically came from behind to get the W.
fedor got overconfident. if he would have fought his 3 losses like he fought ishi and monson (with inteligence and patience) he would had never had gone on werdums guard, and with silva and hendo he would have been patient and pick better his spots. maybe he could have lost against big foot if the second round repeated. but if fedor was well trained and after watching big foot against cormier i have no doubt that fedor wouldnt have been so sloopy on his feet missing all of those punches on that giant head. IMO he is still number 10 HW and the only 2 guys that will beat him (if fedor is in good shape) are cain and JDS.
i also think he needs to go to the UFC
the word out is that he is fighting in monaco in july against an opponent from europe. i hope it happens sooner.
if he can come to terms with showtime and zuffa to compete in strikeforce one last time i believe the showtime deal states the winner of the hw gp has to fight one more time under the strikeforce banner after winning the gp although im not sure they would want that to be against a guy that lost in the gp but its his best shot at a proper top 10'er i would think
I'm a huge fedor fan but I guess I'm still not understanding why he doesn't get rid of some of that fat and go to 205?
You and the rest of the world.
Because 205 is a harder division than HW.
Not if you walk around at 220.
I didn't mean hard to make wt for. I meant harder to fight in. Every time I see a LHW fight a HW the HW either loses or looks really bad. Even when Big Foot fought Kyle he was close to done. Then there are all of Randy Couture's HW fights. LHW is a bad place for a guy who is used to fighting HWs. Fedor's advantages are speed and agility and he doesn't have those advantages at LHW because the guys there are just as fast and just as agile. I like Fedor as a fighter but he would not do well against the LHWs. His best bet is to regain some of the muscles he used to have and keep fighting the big boys.
I think Fedor should drop to LHW, join the UFC, and fight Stephan Bonnar. Bonnar's been on a tear lately, both fighters are fan friendly, and it would likely be a good brawl. Both men bring it, are very hard to finish, and always look for the finish themselves. Additionally, if both fighters put on a great performance, I think it'd be good for both of their careers.
if he goes to the UFC he need a bigger name... bonnar is big but fedor need a bigger name. if he goes at LHW it will be great to see him with rampage, shogun or machida. or maybe a wrestler like rashad or davis to prepare an epic fight against jones. that will give me a bonner!!!
on HW they could put him against carwin or mirr. if a miracle happens and one day fedor fights on the UFC i will love to see what are the UFC plan with him... try to make him lose or give him 1 or 2 fights and make him fight for the belt
Fedor fights at his natural weight, 230ish. If he falls in that bracket 206-265lbs. thats where he will fight, maybe if there was a 225 category he could lose 10 pounds, but there is no point of going to 205, he is very far into his career, the tale end, his body might not even be able to cope at 205.
HW is the truth.
If you bring any LHW to fight any top 20 HW in an openweight competition 99.9% the LHW will lose.OK I take Jones as an exception and I give him 80% tom lose...
