Ben Askren dominates Dan Hornbuckle to win the Bellator Welterweight tournament; LowPick winners announced
Posted on June 18, 2010, 08:46 AM by Anton GurevichWrestling prodigy Ben Askren proved his worth as one of the most promising fighters in Mixed Martial Arts today, by dominating Top 10 Welterweight Dan Hornbuckle in the Bellator Welterweight Tournament Final. Askren took Hornbuckle down at will, punishing the "Handler" with a vicious ground and pound. Hornbuckle was very aggressive off his back with submission attempts and striking, but it was Askren who pulled off an important victory against the crafty veteran.
Askren is now expected to square off against the unbeaten Bellator Welterweight Champion Lyman Good, in a fight that will probably take place sometime during Season 3. Here are the full Bellator XXII results:

i hate fighters that hit when unecessary, and that ref should be fired, he was completely on the other side of the cage.
While Askren looked technically sound and performed very well, the fight left something to be desired. I am far from one of those people who bash wrestling in mma, in fact I cant stand that type of ignorance and I feel to many "fans" are ready to use it as in excuse for why their favorite fight lost, however it is how you USE the wrestling. Anyhow, much deserved props to Askren.
Also, I would like to add the I think Bellator is doing very well.. I like the way they format things.... Although I hate the way they are televised... They could be a sleeping giant in mma.
Always love watching that reverse/upside down triangle choke......nuts!!
