Bellator 39 delivered an exciting night of fights from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Eddie Alvarez successfully defended his Lightweight title, outboxing Pat Curran in the card's headlining bout en-route to a lopsided unanimous decision victory, while Rick Hawn picked up a close split decision over former Welterweight champ Lyman Good in the co-main event. Patricky Freire put on an impressive display, landing a vicious flying knee that left veteran Toby Imada out on his feet, as did former UFC fighter Ben Saunders, who put on a Muay Thai clinic, defeating Matt Lee via doctor stoppage.
