Alexander Shlemenko set to extend his contract with Bellator
Posted on November 25, 2010, 04:38 PM by Anton GurevichSpeaking via last Monday's Knoqout Podcast on LowKick.com, RusFighters Vice President and Alexander Shlemenko's manager, Alexey Zherniakov, revealed that his client will look to extend the existing contract with Bellator. Shlemenko currently has two fights remaining on his contract, after losing to Hector Lombard (via Decision) in his last fight at Bellator 34:
"You know what, at this moment Bellator guys are on vacation between seasons. So nothing is decided yet. I assume that Alexander will have his contract extended. He has two fights remaining on his contract, but participation in Bellator Tournament is three fights, plus hopefully, one Championship fight. Again, I think that the contract will be extended, but I can't say more about this subject as for now."
Twenty-six year old Alexander Shlemenko is currently 30-5 in his MMA campaign, holding 19 Knockout victories. One of these losses is to the reigning Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Jacare Souza. Here's what Zherniakov said about a possible rematch:
"I know that his dream is to fight Jacare again. When they fought for the first time, Alexander had absolutely no ground game, but now he's a completely different fighter. The result won't be the same."

damn i was hoping the UFC or Strikeforce was going to sign him
Even though he lost to Lombard, he was really impressive in that fight, great kicks and knees but i dont really no who hes going to fight in Bellator, there MW roster is very limited, he should hve tried Dream, SF and even UFC first, for his sake I hope Bellator n SF co-promote
He showed great heart in his fight with Lombard. Even tho I picked Schlemenko to win, I was still not disappointed in his performance.
I am not a fan of the bellator (season) tournament format, its getting old quickly...... i see hector destine for greater things (outside of bellator) and alexander seems to be a promising fighter that could be a good addition to the ufc as they continue to expand into europe.... both hector and alexander should jump ship to a more established promotion.... both ufc and strikeforce need more talent in their (thin) middleweight divisions.......
wowiki....wow - you really see this as a credible source? also...why all the ufc negativity? in my estimation the mma world is a dog eat dog business in and outside of the cage....... why are you so fascinated with the contractual side of things? i (too) am frustrated with the ufc being Fedor'less but in my opinion m-1 are the ones to blame their contract disputes are famous - they are signed with strikeforce and we (still) only see Emelianenko Fedor fight once a year..... which is sad (really) given the current depth of strikeforce's hw div. but hey chin up... we may get to see Emelianenko Fedor fight on more than one occasion in 2011.... also the sports you listed are mainly team games (bar tennis) that have been long established and have things such as fifa etc to take care of the business side... mma is a combat sport (a young sport at that) .... look at boxing's history - shady promoters, match fixing etc.....give mma time.......
take no heed of this comment..... the comment i replied to has since been removed....
