USADA Begins Random Drug Testing UFC Fighters

The new age of drug testing has officially begun in MMA (mixed martial arts), with stricter policies and harsher punishments, it’s becoming a lot harder to be a drug cheat. The UFC, obviously, pioneered alongside the NSAC (Nevada State Athletic Commission) a huge overhaul of their drug testing methods after a litany of high profile drug busts made it essential to clamp down. The promotion then stated they wouldn’t be doing random drug testing, but today’s news is of a much different tune.

USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) has confirmed with Bleacher Report lead writer Jeremy Botter that they have indeed begun random doping tests, and the results will be available for everyone to see:

This could well be the big change that Georges St-Pierre has been calling for since vacating the title in late 2013. The UFC and MMA as a whole has been smeared with an epidemic of stars playing dirty, could this be the crucial catalyst to a cleaner sport?
