Before the UFC’s huge success with UFC 189, the UFC held another big pay-per-view event in May, which was UFC 187. Finally, after a few months going by, we have an actual pay-per-view buy rate for the event.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and MMA Fighting.com is reporting in this week’s newsletter that UFC 187 did 375,000 pay-per-view buys.

It should be noted that due to the UFC being a private company, they will not be releasing the PPV buy rate to the public.

UFC 187 took place on Saturday (May 23) from Las Vegas a the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The event aired live on pay-per-view, FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

UFC 187 was headlined by two title fights. Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson for Light Heavyweight Title and the co-main event was Chris Weidman (c) vs. Vitor Belfort for the Middleweight Title.

The event drew an announced attendance of 12,615 for a live gate of $5,189,167.

For a UFC pay-per-view that’s a pretty good number and about the norm for the UFC these days. However, one would think what it could’ve been if Jon Jones fought on the card; that event could have done over 400,00 buys.

We’ll update you with any new figures on the blockbuster UFC 189 card when they are released.
