Ronda Rousey Endorses Bernie Sanders For President

As she makes her final preparations for her potentially record-setting title fight against Holly Holm in the main event of this Saturday’s (November 14, 2015) UFC 193 from Australia’s Etihad Stadium, Ronda Rousey has made her choice for the United States presidency known.

The dominant, undefeated champ recently shot down a statement by GPO hopeful Donald Trump suggesting that she supported him, and based on her recent words in an interview with Maxim magazine, she’s going in the exact opposite direction for the November 2016 election. Apparently, “Rowdy” is siding with Democratic hopeful Bernie Sanders because he refuses to take corporate money to finance his campaign:

“I’m voting for Bernie Sanders, because he doesn’t take any corporate money. I don’t think politicians should be allowed to take money for their campaigns from outside interests.”

Accepting funds from his growing number of supporters, Sanders is mounting a grassroots campaign to build support for his unconventional plans. His campaign is still viewed as a long shot to actually be nominated, as he’ll have to go up against the big money campaign of longtime contender Hilary Clinton. If he’s unable to beat Clinton, however, Rousey won’t be voting for her.

Without a vested interest in either candidate, she said she’d vote for a lesser-known third party candidate as she did in 2012:

“If he doesn’t win against Hillary, then I’ll probably vote for a third party again. To be honest, in 2012 I was against both candidates and so I just picked any third party because I thought if more people voted for third parties then they’d have to take third parties seriously.”

Quickly becoming the biggest crossover star that MMA or any kind of fighting has ever seen, Rousey clarified that she was unimpressed throughout the last presidential election, but noted she was hopeful that Sanders would indeed win next year:

“I voted for Roseanne last time,” Rousey said. “Mostly I went in to vote for all the state and local things. I was so unimpressed with the whole presidential campaign that I picked whatever third party I saw, and I saw Roseanne and thought, ‘That’s awesome.’ But I’m really pulling for Sanders this time. I hope it works out.”
