Chad Mendes Says He Will Finish Conor McGregor Or Make Him Cry

ufc fight night 63

As far as Chad Mendes is concerned, he has three options at UFC 189 on July 11, 2015 in Las Vegas. The first two end with “Money” finishing Conor McGregor. The third is a bit more humiliating. If Mendes has his way, we could see “Notorious” shed tears.

Last night (June 30, 2015), Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White appeared on SportsCenter with McGregor to announce that UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo pulled out of his title bout due to a rib injury. The UFC then revealed “Notorious” would instead meet Mendes for the interim 145-pound title.

It didn’t take long for the trash talking to commence. Even before he officially replaced Aldo, Mendes told McGregor he “better pray Aldo can fight.” Never one to hold his tongue, the Irish sensation fired back by saying he will “demolish” Mendes and “rip his head off.”

Mendes was quick to fire another jab at McGregor. He even laid out his plans going into UFC 189 (via FOX Sports):

“I see myself beating this guy three ways. I’m either going to knock him unconscious because he drops his hands a ton and gets lazy in there. I’m going to take him down and submit him because he gives up. Or I’m going to have him on his back crying for his mama for five, five-minute rounds, beating the crap out of him. I’m good with all three of them.”

Mendes says he isn’t fazed by McGregor’s ability to get under the skin of his opponents. He feels he will be “Money” come fight night:

“Let him say whatever the hell he wants. I’m going to sit there and smile because I know in my mind I’m going to get in there and whoop this dude’s ass. This is a huge payday for me and it’s all because of his mouth so let’s get after it.”
