Latest addition to the Strikeforce Heavyweight roster, Josh Barnett, declared that he prefers to square off against Andrei "The Pitbull" Arlovski in his debut for the promotion. Speaking on Mauro Ranallo's radio show, this is what Josh Barnett had to say about his first Strikeforce match-up:

“You know, one thing that just seems to keep following me around like a bad small is a match-up with Andrei Arlovski, I don’t know why. It doesn’t matter whether he’s on a losing streak or a winning streak or Japan or the US, his name keeps popping up consistently. So I imagine he’s probably going to be the first on the list.”

Meanwhile, Michael Schiavello confirmed that Andrei Arlovski will participate in the 1/8 Final Event of K-1 WGP, taking place on October 2nd in Seoul, South Korea. Arlovski will not fight as the part of K-1 WGP Eighth Final, but will square off against the yet unnamed opponent outside the tournament format.

These Strikeforce guys are so hyped up just because most of them have recently been winning a lot like Barnett, Overeem and Anotinio Silva. Congrats except all those guys you beat lately are either washed up or nobodies.

If Brock wants to say he is the best in the world he has to leave the UFC and fight the best heavyweights in the world in Strikeforce.

I don`t think Brock has to leave the UFC. why should he!? there still is the best heavyweight roster. Velasquez, Dos santos, Carwin, Mir, and Cro cop for example. Overeem and Fedor should sign with the UFC. I think Overeem will sooner or later, Fedor will never sign with UFC. Barnett has an impressive fighting record but he still has to prove that he belongs to the best today.

the hw division in strikeforce is definaltey their standout division but a larglely untested overemm and fedor does not really make it better than the ufc. they are really close but i would say that the ufc still has a way deeper hw div and maybe a little more top talent

I have to add that i think that barnett is probably a top 5 heavyweight but since 2006, when he lost to nogueira, he hasn`t fought someone who was in his prime. So fighting real competition in a mayor promotion will show if he can hang with the best of the best today.

Poor Arlovski, He seems only to be a name now of some former legend. He is mostly used now to hype up new up and comers or to sell a bad event. I remember thinking this guy is unstoppable and now I can't think of many guys he could beat. I love Chuck Liddell and he used to be the guy who could not be beat to. I think Chuck had a 9 or 10 fight win streak at one time in the UFC then one loss and then a 7 fight win streak including 5 fights as the champ. I just think the pitbull is past his time.
