DREAM 16 Quick Results
Posted on September 25, 2010, 06:04 AM by Daniel CassidyThe dust now settles in Nagoya, as some of the world's biggest MMA talents took centre stage at DREAM 16. In an action packed night of fighting, Shinya Aoki, Gegard Mousasi, Joachim Hansen and Mayhem Miller all picked up the win, in a very impressive outing for the Japan's biggest MMA promotion. Aoki was paired up against talented grappler Marcus Aurelio, and dominated both rounds to leave with the unanimous decision.
Mayhem Miller, going into the fight as the favourite, finished Sakuraba quicker than mopst could have predicted. It took the American just 2 minutes and 9 seconds to lock in a arm triangle choke, forcing the Japanese fighter to tap out. Joachim Hansen had the best submission of the evening, locking Hideo Tokoro in a perfectly executed triangle in just under 3 minutes, capping off an entertaining set of preliminary fights. In the main event, Gegard Mousasi and Tatsuya Mizuno delivered a grappling masterclass in the final of DREAM's Lightheavyweight tournament. Mousasi was able to end the fight with a well timed rear naked choke, following a string of grappling reversals from both fighters.
