After much speculation, the Heavyweight bout between Strikeforce Champion Alistair Overeem and former UFC prospect Todd Duffee is now official for Dynamite!! 2010.

Dream parent company FEG made the confirmation today at a press conference in Tokyo.  The match-up will serve as the main-event for the card, which takes place on New Year's Eve at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

Overeem, who is currently enjoying a nine-fight unbeaten streak, most recently defeated Brett Rogers back in May to successfully defend his Strikeforce Heavyweight title.  "The Reem" has stayed busy in the months since, preparing for and eventually winning the 2010 K-1 Grand Prix, becoming the first ever champion of a major MMA promotion to simultaneously hold the coveted kickboxing crown.

Duffee's last outing also came back in May, when he suffered a dramatic knockout loss at the hands of Mike Russow in his final UFC appearance. Hoping to rebound from the upset, he steps in to face Overeem with less than two weeks notice. Duffee is also currently scheduled to face Abe Wagner on January 29th at the Titan Fighting Championships 16 in Kansas.

Duffee has a punchers chance, but his shirt says it all. I gotta gree with you there.

I really like this fight. Overeem has nothing to gain and everything to lose in most people's eyes. Duffee is dangerous and has a punchers chance in this fight and if Overeem doesn't absolutely dominate him his (Overeem's) stock will fall. That being said, Overeem should dominate him but I expect Dufee to do a little better than any of the Reem's last few mma opponents.

Smart money is on Reem, but hey smart money was on Fedor too, if Duffe wins though he will get a call back from Dana and the whole heavyweight division will once again get rearranged :-).

And if Duffee loses dramatically? What will be said of the UFC and the guy who was going to be it's future?

It is not, but they were tossing around the idea of an "interim title." From what I understand, DREAM was unwilling because this bout will not utilize the championship round format, and therefore cannot be for title.

Tried earlier actually, too much Japanese not enough English so the A.D.D kicked in, also it would have been easier for you just to say yes or no. Lazy man can't catch a break these days.

I know Reem is a little bit more in front of the camera but he looks so much bigger than Todd.

I would say Todd has a big mountain to climb. Crap, I thought Duffee looked huge in the Octagon, but next to Ubereem, he seems small.

This is a Win-Win for Duffee. If he loses, no one will be too surprised, but if he knocks out Overeem....

I always knew these guys were both tanks but I didnt think Overeem had such a size advantage, could be the angle but I wouldnt doubt Overeem is around 280 lbs when hes maxing out

Just for info, when Overeem won the K1 GP he was weighing around 109 kg (240lbs) and didn't cut weight.

LOL at Duffee losing his last bout, getting cut, & falling ass backwards into a huge fight with The Reem.
