8 Stunning Ring Girls Who Became MMA Fighters

Michelle Waterson

At first nobody took Michelle Waterson seriously when she said she wanted to become a fighter.

After all, she was working at Hooters at the time to help pay her way through college and looked about as far removed as you could get from the stereotypical image of a fighter.

”I picked up a side gig being a ring girl, and I met Donald Cerrone there,” Waterson recalled in a 2014 interview with UFC.com. “I was really interested in fighting, and I had already started doing Muay Thai. So I told the promoter that I was interested in fighting, and he kind of looked at me and laughed. I told Donald, and he did the same thing.”

Waterson was deadly serious though and she’d have the last laugh when at the age of 21 she not only began fighting professionally, but also proved to be a force to be reckoned with.

That was ten years ago and since then ‘The Karate Hottie’ has compiled a 14-4 career record, won Invicta FC’s atomweight title and secured a spot on the UFC’s roster, where she’s currently pushing towards strawweight title contention.
